Camera glass cracked on XS Max

I have also had the exact same thing happen.

Phone is only 3 days old :/ ive babied it, put it down on my desk face down in a case with a lip, when i picked it back up it has a 3 pronged crack coming out of the microphone hole towards the right side of the phone, with a hairline over the flash / one of the cameras.

Attempting to work this out with apple, ive not even had a chance to set up apple care.

Same issue here. Had the XS max for 2 months, never been dropped or out of the UAG monarach case. Yesterday I noticed a crack around the microphone hole. I haven’t had a chance to take it to a store yet but all of these responses for help from apple are not very promising.

I got my apple iphone XS Max 256 last November and the camera lens got cracked mysteriously without being dropped and with no physical contact like keys etc. I am very very dissapointed. Went to authorized service provider and they said that its not covered by warranty. Apple is getting worst overtime!

I bought Apple Iphone XS 2 months back and I suddenly notice a similar kind of crack. Is this a manufacturing defect? So many people have been reporting the same issue. Why is it not covered under warranty then? It's not the customers fault.

When you buy AppleCare+ on a phone and the device gets replaced you do not need to purchase new applecare+. It will carry on as normal from the original purchase date. I’m not sure about the US, but in the U.K., there is an excess fee of £79 to swap the phone. I would imagine its roughly the same (maybe $99ish).

Went to take a nice landscape picture and i get a huge glare! Im scared to remove my 3m skin.

Ive sat on other phones before and never had this issue.

I was hoping to keep this device for 2 years, its only been 5 months.

same for me. Such a flaw on a device at 1000+ $/€ is unacceptable, as the cost of repair. It’s incredible that apple does not offer an affordable option to just change the glass.

you pay 1155€ for the device, and 229€ for the apple care, just to get the luxury to pay 99€ more to replace a 0,009€ glass. Finally the 1500€ is the real price of an iPhone.

You must work for apple! I think people are saying here is that there is a design flaw at issue and that the camera lens shouldn't just crack for no apparent reason what so ever. apple should stand behind the design quality of there products after all why would you want to buy anything from a company that doesn't.

I have the same problem, Mine was XS max, and i never dropped my phone, not even once, and i see a crack on the glass covering the camera, I see all the replies for your post and understood no one got any hep from apple, this is a ****** design from apple and they have to answer to us after all spending 1200 dollars on their product. Any ideas how to report this issue to consumer goods department or highlight this issue in twitter and make it to reach apple ??

I’ve got the same crack! Noticed it a few weeks back. I’ve never dropped my phone landing with the rear and i still have the crack, but I didn’t think more about it because it is as thin as a hairline. When I realise more people have this issue, I really want to get it fixed

Same thing happened to me. Noticed a crack on my camera screen a few weeks back. Took a half day off work to drive to the Apple store. Was told that it was user damage and that it would cost $549 to replace since I didn't have Apple Care. Like other users, my phone stays in an Apple Case and I'm very protective of it. I've had an iPhone since the 1st generation and never had an issue with a broken screen, etc. I'd like to try and fix it on my own, but want to wait to see if Apple "MANS" up and fixes the design flaw. My biggest worry now is water getting into the phone.

Same issue here, I’ve also always had my IPhone Max Xs in an otter box. Never dropped the phone, just took it out of my pocket the other day and noticed a c shaped crack on the camera lens hole. I took half a day off of work and went to the Apple store to only be told they won’t stand behind the product. In my oppionion this is a manufacturer defect. I’ve had 5 iPhones in the past and have never damaged one. If Apple will not make this right it will be my last Apple product for me and my family.

Had my phone in the original Apple leather case ($50!!) since day 1. Just noticed this same crack on my camera as well!!!! PLEASE FIX THIS APPLE, I have spent about $25,000 on your products in my lifetime, but if this is not addressed it will be the last $1200 I ever spend with you.

This is my first Apple product and decided to go all out IPhone XS MAX with tons of space and an over priced otter box case. This is an extension of my body so I treat with so much care. As I placed my phone down yesterday I saw the horrific crack Surrounding the tiny mic hole. This is more than upsetting. Amazon sales tiny covers but that won’t help me now.

I have the SAME EXACT PROBLEM in the SAME EXACT place. Seriously Apple? Is this what's going to push me back to 'droid? Ugh! This is clearly a flaw so please try to be humane and fix it for free. I cant even upgrade my **** phone now because of this and Ive never had phone damage in the past. NEVER!
