Camera glass cracked on XS Max

same for me. Such a flaw on a device at 1000+ $/€ is unacceptable, as the cost of repair. It’s incredible that apple does not offer an affordable option to just change the glass.

you pay 1155€ for the device, and 229€ for the apple care, just to get the luxury to pay 99€ more to replace a 0,009€ glass. Finally the 1500€ is the real price of an iPhone.

so disappointed of this lack of consideration. Customer-minded is clearly no more a value @ Apple.

You must work for apple! I think people are saying here is that there is a design flaw at issue and that the camera lens shouldn't just crack for no apparent reason what so ever. apple should stand behind the design quality of there products after all why would you want to buy anything from a company that doesn't.

I have the same problem, Mine was XS max, and i never dropped my phone, not even once, and i see a crack on the glass covering the camera, I see all the replies for your post and understood no one got any hep from apple, this is a ****** design from apple and they have to answer to us after all spending 1200 dollars on their product. Any ideas how to report this issue to consumer goods department or highlight this issue in twitter and make it to reach apple ??

I’ve got the same crack! Noticed it a few weeks back. I’ve never dropped my phone landing with the rear and i still have the crack, but I didn’t think more about it because it is as thin as a hairline. When I realise more people have this issue, I really want to get it fixed

Same thing happened to me. Noticed a crack on my camera screen a few weeks back. Took a half day off work to drive to the Apple store. Was told that it was user damage and that it would cost $549 to replace since I didn't have Apple Care. Like other users, my phone stays in an Apple Case and I'm very protective of it. I've had an iPhone since the 1st generation and never had an issue with a broken screen, etc. I'd like to try and fix it on my own, but want to wait to see if Apple "MANS" up and fixes the design flaw. My biggest worry now is water getting into the phone.

Same issue here, I’ve also always had my IPhone Max Xs in an otter box. Never dropped the phone, just took it out of my pocket the other day and noticed a c shaped crack on the camera lens hole. I took half a day off of work and went to the Apple store to only be told they won’t stand behind the product. In my oppionion this is a manufacturer defect. I’ve had 5 iPhones in the past and have never damaged one. If Apple will not make this right it will be my last Apple product for me and my family.

Had my phone in the original Apple leather case ($50!!) since day 1. Just noticed this same crack on my camera as well!!!! PLEASE FIX THIS APPLE, I have spent about $25,000 on your products in my lifetime, but if this is not addressed it will be the last $1200 I ever spend with you.

This is my first Apple product and decided to go all out IPhone XS MAX with tons of space and an over priced otter box case. This is an extension of my body so I treat with so much care. As I placed my phone down yesterday I saw the horrific crack Surrounding the tiny mic hole. This is more than upsetting. Amazon sales tiny covers but that won’t help me now.

I have the SAME EXACT PROBLEM in the SAME EXACT place. Seriously Apple? Is this what's going to push me back to 'droid? Ugh! This is clearly a flaw so please try to be humane and fix it for free. I cant even upgrade my **** phone now because of this and Ive never had phone damage in the past. NEVER!

After 3 months a fine crack on my iPhone XS, beginning from the mic.

Did not fall or hit anywhere.

I have it even in an Apple leather case.

Had a Chat with the hotline and showed the phone at an authorised reseller.

i would have to replace it for € 590.

I don’t get that. So many costumers complaints.

And all this fuzz from Apple about sustainability. This is a design flaw if a phone has to be completely replaced just because of that glass.

mIne has done the exact same thing, but i hadn't noticed until I went he apple store, the Face ID has completely stopped working (a known issue with the hardware) and they are saying they wont honour the warranty because of the rear camera screen, I have never dropped it and it lives in a lifeproof case. i can pay $800 if I want a new one tho. poor options and customer care

Hey all! Loyal iPhone owner for years! I’ve owned the iPhone 3GS, 4, 5, and 6s models- never had issues with them. I bought the iPhone XS Max 10 months ago and the camera glass is cracked around the mic area. I always keep it on my premium otter box case. I’ve never dropped it and it seems to be a defect. I’d say it’s a structure flaw/weak point. Called apple and they said it’s not covered under warranty. I can’t believe I spent $1300 and now even a year later it’s falling apart on me! I’m conducting research and seems like some people get it replaced and others don’t... seems unfair to me :(

I have also noticed this crack on my lens. It is super disappointing. I always have hard cover cases on my phone. It is treated with so much care. I have had iphones since they released the very first one and must say, having regard to the price to fix this, am super distressed and disappointed that a multi billion dollar company cannot fix what can only be deemed a manufacturing defect. Wished I noticed it earlier as it has just passed my 12 months

With tens of thousands of people checking in on this thread it sure seems like a production flaw that Apple needs to address. Has there been any kind of official response to this issue?

Same issue here. My XS Mas is 3 days old. Been in a case since i bought it. Actually still have the original plastic on the back so there is no pitting from dirt or dust getting back there. I noticed last night (end of day 2) that there was a small chip/crack to the right of the microphone and a very faint hairline crack going to the LED flash. Not happy after paying $1200 and getting this type of quality! Taking it back to Verizon to get a replacement and we'll see how that goes.
