2018 Mac mini vs 2017 iMac for video

I currently have a late 2012 27 inch iMac bumped up a bit with a 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 (graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB). I was hoping for an iMac upgrade at the Oct. 30 Apple event. Wondering which would be better for video editing—a current 27 inch iMac with a 3.6 GHz quad-core i7 or the new Mac mini with a 3.2GHz 6-core Intel Core i7? Thanks in advance.

The iMac will almost certainly be better simply because of the graphics card.

The Mac Mini only has an Intel integrated GPU, not a discrete one.

(Of course you could fit the mini with an eGPU, which would probably cost more than the mini itself)

Not sure about the CPU, as the one on the Mini seems to be of a newer generation (Coffee Lake vs the iMac Kaby Lake), but I still would not trade the iMac for the Mini.

The gorgeous 27" screen would have to be replaced with... something, too
