USB-C iPad Pro to USB-A Macbook iTunes Backup
When my new iPad Pro arrives 11/7, I will want to do an iTunes backup. How will I be able to do that since my MacBook Pro doesn't have a USB-C port?

I have just ordered a Molex USB-A male to USB-C male cable, DigiKey part numberWM12849-ND. The available data sheet shows the pin wiring and it should do the trick.
I will post my results back after it and my iPad arrive and I have a chance to try it out.
There's USB-C to USB-A cables you can use.
Never mind.
Do you know if the Apple USB-C to USB-A adapter would work as well? It's not clear to me in their description if it can be used "bidirectionally".
The cable that comes "in the box" appears to be USB-C to USB-C. If a USB-A to USB-C cable is compatible, then that should work. Maybe Apple's
USB-C to USB Adapter
will work.
Got it.
I browsed Apple online store but I can't see USB-C to USB-A cable. There's an adapter that you mentioned but no cables made by Apple or 3rd party.
Good luck.
Okay, the USB-A male to USB-C male cable I got from DiigiKey worked perfectly.
Excellent. Thanks for posting back with results.
I was wanting to know that too...not for an iTunes backup, but to use Astropad, because I don't want to rely on questionable Wifi
Thank you!
I’ve updated to Mojave and purchased a new cable (Belkin) instead of the cable from Apple and now it works just fine 😀
I believe iTunes version 12.9 is required to recognize the 2018 iPad Pro.
