New iTunes does not provide an option for Desktop icon
The latest iTunes version for Windows PCs does not give us an option for a desktop icon, as many of us are used to.
Windows 10 last install of iTunes 12.9.1.4 we now get from the Microsoft Store, it appears like it is a brand new install, rather than an update, but it eventually does let you know it found your library.
As mentioned in earlier posts from July 2018, we don't seem to have the 38MB executable itunes.exe, from which to extract the icon graphic and target, there is nothing I could find except two zero length executables that do work, somehow, but do not restore the familiar desktop icon.
I can drag the icon from the Windows Recently Added menu on to the desktop, which looks almost the same as the original icon, but I really have to wonder just who is doing this transition, and what other features of the software package have been dropped? Many people use this software to update their Apple equipment, and to just toss it over the fence to the Microsoft Store seems like a mistake, if they can't keep up with this first step.
