Logic Pro X sound library status not updating

I recently performed a clean installation of Mojave through a bootable usb and after the install, I installed logic (10.4.2)......logic works fine................but I had my sound library in my external hard drive which I relocated to my internal hard drive......and after relocating it to the internal hard drive I have all the sounds available for me to use but when I open sound library manager the status doesn't show "installed" to any of the sounds but only few which I downloaded again......I have all the sounds in logic......I can use them but the status in sound library doesn't show "installed"

this is the screenshot of my sound library where there is no download symbol in front of any of the sound....... meaning all are downloaded.........

User uploaded file

and this is the screenshot of my sound library where there is no status as "installed"......other than the ones that I recently downloaded again.....

So finally found it.........the solution is here...............

why this problem occurs, is because all the sounds in the sound library manager have a related file in the receipts folder (Mackintosh HD/System/Library/Receipts) and this little files makes the particular sounds visible for the sound library manager............which means even though you have all the sounds downloaded and if you have deleted that particular related file in receipts folder then your sound library will not recognise that particular sound..............but you can still use all the sounds...........but the "status" will be blank.............

So to get your sound library recognise all the sounds you need to somehow copy these receipt files to receipt folder...........

and there is no strict rule that you should not copy that files from someone else's Mac..........if you know someone who have downloaded all the sounds you can surely copy from them (the receipts folder also will be having some other files related to MacOS or some other applications but you need to copy only the ones related to logic)

and paste it to your receipts folder..............

One more thing is that by default you cannot copy any files to receipts folder because its a system folder which will be protected by "system integrity protection".............so to disable that follow the steps below..........

  1. Click the  menu.
  2. Select Restart...
  3. Hold down Command-R to boot into the Recovery System.
  4. Click the Utilities menu and select Terminal.
  5. Type "csrutil disable" and press return.
  6. Close the Terminal app.
  7. Click the  menu and select Restart....

Now after disabling it just paste the files into your receipts folder and don't try to mess with any other folders because it may crash your Mac...........

After pasting the files now enable the "system integrity protection".............to enable that follow the steps below..........(its always better to enable it to be on safer side).........

  1. Click on the  (Apple Logo) at the far left of your Mac's Menubar.
  2. Click on Restart.
  3. Hold down CMD + R during reboot to enter Recovery Mode.
  4. Click on the Utilities Menu.
  5. Launch Terminal.
  6. Type in "csrutil enable".
  7. Restart your Mac again.

Now after doing all these just quit all applications and open logic and it should work...........

I personally thank JotaGi and Gunbee for helping me through this.........

Actually, one workaround in a case like yours is to try to download / install a small-sized library (say, Guitar or something like that). However, if that doesn't make Sound Library Manager "see" that the complete library is already installed, it means that nothing else will, except re-downloading / re-installing the whole thing over again.

To re-install, try selecting the chunks of sound library in the Sound Library Manager's window and then clicking "Install" (instead of trying to download the whole thing at once using the "Reinstall Sound Library" option). I'd recommend going with chunks of 10-15 Gb.

thanks a lot........

I tried that.........

but its showing "installed" only for those things which I have freshly downloaded.......

recently I came through a blog where I found some stuff.......I have put the link below.....check it.......

Logic Pro X - Migrate Sound Library | MacRumors Forums (go to the end of discussion)

after reading this discussion even I went to the location "system/library/receipts/" and I found all the documents for the files that I have downloaded but not for those that I didn't recently but they are present......

but I have formatted my Mac so I even cannot copy that folder as the person in that blog does............

if you find something please help.......

thanks......

I found something..........

whatever is shown installed in the sound library manager has a linked file in the receipts folder...........which makes the particular sound visible to the sound library manager.................I even did a test........I saw the contents in that receipts folder...........and after that I went to logic and downloaded a small amount of apple loops (dubstep) and again when I went to receipts folders I saw two extra files in the name of "dubstep"............

then I came to know that all the sounds in sound library manager have a related file in receipts folder which makes it visible to sound library manager.............

have you downloaded all the sounds.............can you please send me a copy of your "receipts" folder..........i'll cross check it with mine and try to find some solution................I have only 124 files in my receipt folder..........

location for receipts folder=Mackintosh HD/System/Library/Receipts

or if you know something please help............

thanks a lot........

Not all of the receipts in that folder are the receipts for LPX content. Thus, you can't just transplant the contents of /System/Library/Receipts from someone else's system into yours. However, I suppose in theory, it might be possible to identify the receipts for LPX content and try to paste them into that folder.

Update: I managed to identify the LPX library receipts by the date of the last download / installation. There are 1320 items. I'll upload them all in an archive and post a link here 🙂 Hopefully it works..

Here you go: LPX SL receipts.zip

Please let us know if the transplant worked 🙂 If it does, it will signal a significant progress in Sound Library management and relocation techniques 😀
