It is/was a great idea but anything you download from the App Store gets installed automatically to the Applications folder and must be there to be updated. Also many applications that require an installer don't allow the installation location to be changed and some that do won't update properly because the updater assumes the application is in the Applications folder, not your applications folder. Even programs that are delivered in disk image and are dragged onto the hard drive won't update properly if not dragged to the applications folder. In theory it is a good way to keep dangerous tools or other applications out of the hands of everyone who uses the computer - in reality it isn't so great.

So the one in the home folder is meant for apps which I want to use specifically for my personal User, and the one in Mac HD is for apps which are used by all users, or am I wrong?
