iPhone acts odd, crazy, touch screen, random behavior, while charging

Problem:

I have an AUTHENTIC APPLE cord and an AUTHENTIC APPLE wall charger (NO FAKES). I have no issues at all relative to charging. However, about when I attempt to use the iPhone, such as dial a number while it is still charging, the touch screen responds CRAZY, or RANDOM as I try to the digits of the number I wish to call. As I enter the phone number .... random characters appear. When I hit the correction key to try and remove the erroneous characters, it changes nothing and continues this odd behavior. THEN, when I unplug the phone, it reverts back to normal operation. Most of the time, when I plug the phone back in, the problem does NOT return. In other words, this problem seems to be irratic, and intermittent...

In addition, if the phone happens to be in power save mode, and the phone rings, I am unable to answer a call until I unplug my phone.

The issue is extremely annoying... and would appreciate a response from APPLE SUPPORT. Again, I have an AUTHENTIC APPLE cord and an AUTHENTIC APPLE wall charger (NO FAKES).

Check the lightning port for lint or debris that may be causing a short.

Try a different cable. If that doesn't work, try a different power source. It's likely that one or the other (most likely the cable) is failing or defective. Authentic or not, it can still be bad.

If neither of those fix it, Make an appointment at the genius bar.

Thanks KiltedTim!

I hadn't thought of that one...

Based on past experience with this problem, ... I think you're correct, lightning port debris is most likely to culprit....

  • Try a different cable:

DONE that many times... this one happens to be a brand new APPLE cable, unboxed within the last week.

  • Different power source: ... I am in my office, this issue has happened ANYWHERE I am at... location doesn't matter.
