On my iPad Pro 10.5, the "Only Draw With Apple Pencil" setting for the Notes app doesn't work - even when it's set my fingers are interpreted by Notes as drawing strokes. How can I fix this?

I'm using iOS 12.1. Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, neilredding!

I see you've noticed that even though you have the option to only draw with Apple Pencil set, your fingers are still interpreted as drawing strokes in Notes. I'd be happy to provide information to help you out.

Have a look at the following article: Use Notes on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

*When your Apple Pencil is connected to your iPad, only the pencil can be used to draw. Your fingers can be used for scrolling. To change these settings, go to Settings > Notes > Only Draw with Apple Pencil.

However, if you set your Apple Pencil down, your iPad will start detecting your fingers to draw. It will only ignore your fingers or palm when you're holding up your Apple Pencil as if ready to write.

I hope this clears things up.

Have a great week ahead!
