Trying to use a Nvidia Quadrophonic K5000 with an Apple LED Cinema Display (DisplayPort)

I am using a Mac Pro 5.1 and I have installed a Quadro K5000 video card. The display I use is an Apple LED Cinema Display which I bought with the computer back in 2012 or whenever.

However, although the card installed ok and the OS and the Nvidia Drivers acknowledge its presence, the card does not recognise the Display as plugged into it. In other words I get no picture!

The adapter I am using is

StarTech.com 6in DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort Video Cable Adapter - M/F - 6in DP to Mini DP

Sold by: CCL Computers

It claims to be up to DisplayPort revision 1.2

Should it work? If so and its the adapter, will this adapter be any better?

Mini DP to DP Cable, CERRXIAN 4K Mini DisplayPort Mini DP to DisplayPort Adapter Female to Male -0.3M

Sold by: CERRXIAN

I can still get a perfect picture from my original ATI Card.

Help!

Mac Pro (Mid 2012), macOS Sierra (10.12.3)

There are four primary data pathways, and in a high-quality adapter each uses balanced drivers and receivers (a positive and a negative conductor for each). Six pins means you are just trying to use half of each data pathway, and are not providing the REQUIRED EDID signals. That six-pin adapter is Junk (for use on a Mac).

The adapter sold as compatible with up to 4K resolution is MUCH more likely to be compatible.
