How to remove item from iphone calendar

I have a repeating event that was added several years ago and now I want to remove it but I can't figure out how to do it. There is no edit button, nor a delete button. I have been able to remove the alert on it but it still appears on the calendar. I've tried to find it on my iMac calendar but it doesn't appear there. Since that particular calendar doesn't show up on the Mac, I added the account but even that doesn't show up. I've tried everything I can think of and this should not be that hard but I can't figure it out. Any suggestions

If it has nothing to do with shared or another Calendar service (like Google) could it be corruption from an update.

Yes the reason might be is that if you share your calendars with your husband and say he created then on his iPhone or Mac then he is the only one who can edit or delete the events. As you have read only access

I would delete the calendar. You can set it up again fresh.

Is it a shared calendar, try double clicking and see if you can decline the invite, just a pure guess though.

Go calendar. And tap calendar at the bottom of your app and then select all calendars and see which one by selecting it and edit it.

Do you use Gmail? Or google calendar? Check your calendars in list

I haven’t experienced this issue before so can’t advise from personal knowledge but have come across others that have, so above may give you some ideas.

Ok on you’ve second calendar on your list. Home{a...t@me click on the red I a see event notification turn off and delete calendar

My screen doesn't look like yours exactly but I have done as you suggested. There is no edit button anywhere. All calendars are showing but none of any specific events. The event only shows on the main calendar page. Even when I try to eliminate the alert, it shows up again.

I'm not an expert on computers by any stretch of the imagination but I try. Both my sons who are computer experts just tell me to google the problem. One likes PCs and the other Macs but that one lives in Denver. I can usually solve whatever problem I have on my own but this one has stymied me. Why this event does not show up on my Mac calendar is beyond me!

It's 12.1.2 but I have a notification that there is an upgrade. My husband's phone is exactly like mine and he has the ability to delete or edit an item. Very strange. I'll go ahead and upgrade to see if that makes a difference. This has been a problem for a year so it shouldn't have anything to do with the upgrade but I'll check.

We don't share calendars so that's not it. I went ahead and deleted several calendars as I only want one of them. When I first got my iphone 10 years ago, I didn't know much about how to do things so I probably just kept setting up things without knowing what I was doing. I did that with Apple IDs and I'm still dealing with that fiasco.

For now, I'm okay. Thanks for your help.
