Powerbeats Pro Connection problems

Hi

I have a problem automatically connecting one of the Powerbeats Pro headphones. Sometimes its left one sometimes its the right one. I have iPhone Xs Max so i open powebeats pro case remove left headphone put it on and nothing happens. I remove the right one and put it on and it connects but the left one doesn't. The only way to connect it remove it put it back into the case. Sometimes i need to put back both left and right back to the case and after that it connects. Sometimes i have the problem with the right one. I did a reset but still the problem exist. Anyone has the same problem? looks like its a firmware problem but not sure if there is an update for that.

I have this issue too. Often one of the sides won't connect. Even if I am not near other bluetooth devices. Turning the bluetooth on my iPhone on and off does not help. If you swipe left to see the battery widget only one of the sides shows up.

I have to put them back in the case for a second and then take them out, to get them to work.

Hi,

I just wanna report that I'm having the exact same issue. I noticed it when I got them brand new about a month ago, i went back to the store and the manager did not hesitate o give me a brand new pair. however, after like a day or two the problem came back. Don't get me wrong they are really nice little gadgets but the issue is rather annoying. I called costumer service and they were not helpful about it. It sounds like this is a big issue as I'm not the only one. hopefully an update will fix the problem

Honestly, to all who experience this problem, get your money back.

i was such a feen for these head phones when they were first mentioned. And it was such a major let down. I went back to the regular power beats. Long battery and always reliable. Charge quick and now problem pairing.

the case to the wireless is slippery, huge, And the price is just not worth the head aches. Good luck to all.

I have a similar problem.

In my case the PowerBeats Pro connected to my Mac just fine. I then disconnected them and connected them to my iPhone. SO far so good. I then wanted to go back to using them on my Mac. Assuming that they are like other Bluetooth devices that can only connect to one drive at a time (afterwards I read somewhere that they can connect to two drives and stay paired with them, but I have not gotten that to work for me) I unpaired it from my iPhone and tried to pair it back to my Mac.

No matter what I do it will not pair back to my Mac, even though I had paired them successfully an hour before.

I see them show up in my Bluetooth panel, and I see the connect button but each time I click on the connect button I get an error message that says connection-rejected.

And they will not pair with my Apple Watch Series 4 at all. I don't know if there is a different procedure for that.

I did do the firmware update yesterday (it is a slow process, the progress bar barely looks like it was moving but eventually it did complete the firmware update but it did not fix the problem.

I tried to reset them but that made no difference.

I then found a post online that showed how to delete the preference files, which I did and I rebooted my Mac and the PowerBeats Pro still have an issue.

In my case I suspect that the problem is a preference file that is noting that the Beats were uninstalled and somehow it remembers that and tries to not connect to them again. My suspicion is that the file is corrupted and that is the problem that many of us or all of us are experiencing, but I have deleted all the Bluetooth preference files I could find on my Mac and that has not change the symptoms at all.

I posted all this information on the support page for Beats but there is nowhere to put your email address so there was no way for them to get back to me with a fix.

After all this troubleshooting I went back and did it all again an it got my PowerBeats Pro to connect to my MacBook Pro and my iPhone.

The one thing I did differently is that I noticed that in the Apple troubleshooting I saw somewhere it said to check the Sound control panel in System Preferences. I knew that when my PBP worked the first time that they showed up there, and when they did not work they didn't show up there but I decided to take a look.

I opened mu PBP and I had just reset my PBP using the button in the case, but I mention it in case resetting them helped. I left the case open. I opened the sound control panel and saw nothing in there but I had noticed that something in my menu bar changed but I didn't know what it was since I was not looking directly at it. On a hunch I click on the Bluetooth icon and the PBP appeared, but instead of showing "connection rejected" as usual, it just showed the connect button.

I clicked connect button and it connected.

I then looked at the sound control panel which was still open and I could see my PBP there, I clicked on them and it worked.

I hope this helps somebody out there with this same weird problem.

Just an update - Ever since I've been making sure that my earphones are connected and charging, using the battery widget on my iPhone, i haven't had a problem. If i see that only one side is charging, i take the other out and place it back in making sure to hear the click of the connections and then seeing that both earpieces are charging, at which point the charging icon changes to just show my Powerbeats are charging, not showing ear individual earpiece.

The other thing i noticed was that there was a little buildup of corrosion on one of the metal contacts on an earpiece. I scraped it off to temporarily clean it, and hopefully allow for a better connection. I'm guessing that when you work out, the sweat can't be great for metal... now i quickly rinse off the earpieces after a workout and pat the metal connectors dry.

I had an issue yesterday where i was going to go for a run and my Apple watch wouldn't connect to the Powerbeats. I'm guessing that's because my iPhone had made the connection first in the apartment - and then i left my phone to go for a run. I was getting frustrated and tried the last thing i could think of - turn off, then turn on the Bluetooth on my watch and see if i could connect. Glad that worked, otherwise if would have been another setback.

Anyway - as i said, i have not had the connection issues / dead earpiece issue since i started to vigilantly check that the earpieces are both connecting. Good luck out there.

So does apple have any solution for this issue, or did I just waste $250 to have a set of ear buds for only a month? Updated firmware, updated phone, and I still can only hear out of only the right bud. I’m really trying to avoid sending them in since it will take weeks and they will most likely send a refurbished pair back... It really makes me think twice about purchasing apple products again.

YEP, this is legit

its happening to me as well and it’s CONSTANTLY the left one. There were times were if you put it on, you can hear a shimmering like dog whistles.... its terrible, it goes off once it actually pairs which of course i have to put back on the case.

My theory is that it must be the case causing the problem since its the case the one in charge of pairing them.

I had a similar problem for some time. Yesterday, however, my left earpiece refused to connect for good. I couldn't see it in the batteris widget so it seemed like it was totally dead. Resetting didn't help.

But I found a way to get it back to life. I swapped my left earpiece with my gf's, reset both cases so that they synced with those swapped pieces and it started working. So it looks like sometimes there's a problem in connectivity between an earpiece and the case itself.

And what's most weird is that when I return my old earpiece to my case and reset - it doesn't respond again.

You definitely should call Apple and tell them of your troubleshooting, it seems that the case is remembering that earpiece somehow and refusing to communicate with it. It seems that its either a problem with it recording that the earpiece is an unwanted foreign device or the contacts on the left earpiece are not working correctly

I Got black ones on day one in uk. Still work perfect.

I thought id treat myself to the ivory ones to work with different outfits in gym.. Got them 1st October and yesterday they stopped working in gym. left one only.

Tried all the resets and updates etc and nothing.

Called apple support today and they said to cal in apple store get replacement or refund no problem.

Just tried to reset again just now and it bloody worked no problem. aaagghhhh

So do i carry on or get them changed??????

Oct 9, 2019 6:29 AM in response to BobLo

The problem for me is that I live in Ukraine and we don't have powerbeats pro officially presented or supported here. So submitting them for a replacement or whatsoever might be problematic. Mine were brought from Canada by a friend. But as long as both pairs work with swapped earpieces I'm happy I can at least use them.

I posted about my case here for others with similar issues to know of this workaround.
