Powerbeats Pro Connection problems

Hi

I have a problem automatically connecting one of the Powerbeats Pro headphones. Sometimes its left one sometimes its the right one. I have iPhone Xs Max so i open powebeats pro case remove left headphone put it on and nothing happens. I remove the right one and put it on and it connects but the left one doesn't. The only way to connect it remove it put it back into the case. Sometimes i need to put back both left and right back to the case and after that it connects. Sometimes i have the problem with the right one. I did a reset but still the problem exist. Anyone has the same problem? looks like its a firmware problem but not sure if there is an update for that.

I have this issue too. Often one of the sides won't connect. Even if I am not near other bluetooth devices. Turning the bluetooth on my iPhone on and off does not help. If you swipe left to see the battery widget only one of the sides shows up.

I have to put them back in the case for a second and then take them out, to get them to work.

This product is utter garbage and the support is far worse. Mine were purchased in August, right ear piece only works sometimes. Tons of different connectivity issues I won't get into.... let's just say what the "flashing lights" are supposed to do to connect / reset..... doesn't even friggin happen! Had them sent in to fix and got them back in a couple of days. Same pair came back. Worked for one day and then the right ear not working again. The woman in the Apple store said.....yeah "beats are known to be unreliable". I'm so mad I spent the money on this crap. I don't know how they get away with.... it's a huge issue with these headphones and I'd wish I'd know it before essentially burning two hundred and something bucks on this junk. Completely dissatisfied and will never buy a beats product again. ....or apple for that matter. How they put their name on this and continue to push this faulty product for tons of money is a scam. You should be ashamed of yourselves apple.....but what do you care?

So what I have found regarding this issue is the following:

One ear bud in my case the left was dropping out even after apparent charging.

The solution was to make sure that BOTH earphones are charging even tho it may seem they are both in position and connected my left was not. I had to constantly fiddly to make it charge. In the end it seems pushing the earphone down onto the connection plates seems to work.

I agree with this and posted a while back the problem with the device (for me) is that there isn’t 100% certainty that the contact is correct to charge. Use the battery widget on your iPhone to put one ear in the charging case first to see if it registers- if yes, then move on to connecting the other. When both are connected the individual earpiece icons go away and it will say the case is charging. I really have not had many issue after figuring out that even if you think the device is making good contact with the charging contacts, you might have to fiddle with the position.

Hi all, I've been having connection issues: the Left is red, then the right is red, but can't get both earphones to connect together.

By accident I found out that there seems to have been a glitch (only way to describe it), whereby my iPhone 8 is playing through one earphone and my iPad air is playing through the other. I have reset the case countless times, turned off bluetooth on each and no luck.

What I have also realised is that for some reason, the devices seem to pick up the same Powerbeats Pro as two different Powerbeats - one is called "Andrew's Powerbeats Pro" and the other is simply "Powerbeats Pro" - hence why there is a red exclamation mark on one side but opposite sides depending on device. I can't for the life of me work out how to reset this. My next attempt before contacting the place of purchase is to try to reset the case by running it out of battery completely.

Any ideas?

I have this same problem, and I think I figured it out. The issue is that the earphone is intermittently not charging in the case. Here is how I figured t out. I read these comments and thought I should try and update my firmware. I went to the beats page to do that, but it wouldn't move past the page where it asks you to connect the case with both earphones inside. However I did have both earphones inside the case. This was the first clue.

I then started to suspect power, so I unplugged the case and opened my iPhone to the first page where the battery levels are displayed. I normally would see three battery levels: one for the case, one for the left earphone and one for the right earphone. However, I only saw two - the case and the right earphone.

My theory was that the reason I couldn't get the left to connect wasn't a connection issue per se, but instead it was the fact that the left earphone had 0% battery, and was dead. I tested this by carefully placing the left in the case and left it for 30 mn or so, and then checked the phone battery levels again. This time the left showed with 3% charge. I lifted it out of the case and placed it in my ear and it connected. It then gave a weird tone and shut down again, likely because the battery level was so low. I then left it for 8+ hours and when I came back, it showed on the iPhone at 100% battery and connected fine after that.

I have two use cases:

1) it won't connect initially, but when I put it back into the case and remove it again, it then connects fine. My theory for this use case is that it still has a charge, but when placed in the case the last time I used it, it didnt connect to the case and therefore "timed out" somehow or lost sync with the right earphone. This can be tested by taking both out and listening to them, then only place one back in and leave it that way for a while. When you come back I will bet that the one you left out of the case will not initially connect, but will connect when placed back into the case and removed again as that causes the earphone to sync up with the other one again.

2) It wont connect at all. In this use case, my theory is that the earphone did not connect to the case properly when it was last placed in there, and enough time has passed from the last time I used it that the battery has drained completely so it wont connect at all. Leaving it then in the case for "30 minutes" or so might give it enough charge to work again after that, as some posters in this thread have experienced.

I am having these replaced and hopefully that will clear it. I am not sure if it is a problem with the left earphone itself not connecting to the case for power, or if it is the case itself that has the connectivity issue. Hopefully replacing both will solve it. I certainly will be paying close attention to the battery meter in the iPhone to determine if I am getting a good earphone/case connection going forward...

Would love to hear how your attempt to get them replaced went. I have the same problem, not only with the left one not connecting frequently, but also with pulling it out only to find that it's charge is down to zero. I never wear them down to zero, so they must be discharging in the case. And I use them pretty much every day, so it's not like it was sitting there for a week.

To be fair once I had Apple chat support the serial number on the beats and they found out it was out of warranty the only solution they gave was purchase another one.

the issue is known to them but since I don’t have the actual original receipt they won’t replace or repair them.

it will cost me £102.95 for another left headset and they’ll give me another 3 months warranty on it. Explained to them what would happen if the issue arose again after 3 months and according to her i would need to pay for a refurbished replacement. They won’t offer a guarantee which makes me believe they are aware the issue at hand.

honetsky for the premium price tag on these headset they reallt are not worth the level of issues I’ve had with them. Currently I’ve gone back to my beats x which I’ve never had an issue with the.

might pay for a refurbished replacement sometime this week and just sell them off.

if you’ve got home insurance they’re should be covered for a repair or a replacement which should be £50 for the claim and the replacement would be sent to yourself in 48 hours.

Well I’m still suffering with connection issues which seem only solvable with repeatedly putting them back in the case, closing the lid then removing them again and seeing if they ‘both’ connect / bleep when I put them on. Rinse and repeat. Since my initial comments I’ve also now run into a couple of times a uncharged single earpiece. By far the most frequent issue is the connection one.

It’s odd, you read here how people are sending them away and getting them back - they behave the same. Some people are getting refurbished sets - they behave the same. Some have reported going to Apple store and being given a brand new set - they behave the same. I’ve been watching youtube videos again lately on the headphones which now consist of ‘after x months use’ etc. and I’ve yet to watch anyone comment on connection problems. Presumably it is just some units which have the fault and generally they work correctly. But the ones having these problems I know for a fact it is true because I deal with it every single day myself.

We know its a genuine issue, so why isn’t Apple diagnosing and identifying the issue and offering a replacement or repair for all affected units. Why are they not even present on this thread to say ANYTHING yet you see them in others. It’s a real poor show and about time someone stepped up and started working with us to figure out this issue and get our purchases working the way they should. Where is Apple.

Powerbeats Pro - must be the worst apple product ever !

ive had mine now for circa 6 months - every other time I went to use them one was discharged. Sent them back apparently got them fixed and now have similar problems.

it seems to me that it’s a basic design flaw - the way they sit in the case is a bit haphazard and therefore they don’t always charge or ...

either way I would definitely not recommend purchasing these :((

Mine worked perfectly until I let my boyfriend borrow them. Now the right one won’t connect at all. I’ve read some comments saying when they’re paired with multiple devices sometimes they get “confused”? Has anyone else experienced this if their beats pros were lent to someone else to borrow? I’m thinking this is the problem with mine, since when we workout we’re within close proximity to each other. I was gifted these for Christmas and I love them, I’m really good it isn’t a defect like a lot of other people think.

I have this same issue, it is very annoying that every time I open my beats case, the left pod never works...I have to disconnect and reconnect every single time. The performance of these earbuds do not match the price! I am very disappointed in this product...should of just waited for Airpod pro’s. Also to mention, the beats never want to connect to my series 4 watch....all the troubleshooting and to still have issues, what happened to these products working together!! C’mon Man!!

Charging issue causes the connection issue as I laid out in my original post. Headphones go back into the case and only one mates to the case to charge. The other one that is not charging eventually times out and goes into some sort of suspend mode. Later you take the headphones out of the case and the one that was suspended doesn’t connect. Back in the case and if it mates this time, when you take it out it wakes up and connects. That is connection error scenario one.

Connection error scenario two is it stays un-mated to the case and eventually runs out of battery and goes dead. Take it out and it doesn’t connect. Put it back and take it out again and it still won’t connect because it has no charge. Put it back and make sure it mates with case and leave it for a while and when it charges enough it will connect again.

Bottom line, connect issue is the charge issue...
