ios 13 and itunes support

Does anyone what Apple plans to do regarding itunes and ios 13 support? Apple released today itunes 12.10.0.7 for Windows users which presumably has ios 13 support but there has been no update for mac users. I am running High Sierra 10.13.6

I remember last year Apple made it really complicated for Mac users because they installed ios 12 on their phones but itunes was not recognizing the phone when it was connected. Everyone had to figure out how to get things working again when Apple released a software update to get itunes to recognize ios 12. It was a big pain.

In Finder use the menu item Go > Go to Folder..., copy the following text, paste it into the dialog box and press enter:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/Current/Resources

Unlock your device and connect it to USB. Double click on MobileDeviceUpdater in the folder that has opened. It should notify you of a software update. Install it and iTunes should hopefully recognize your device.

Interesting! I know I helped someone over the phone and they had OS Mavericks. It asked to get an update (for iTunes), and then closed iTunes. They then unplugged the iPhone 8 plus which they had updated to the 13 (don't know if it was 13.1 or above) and iTunes recognized the phone.

They did not experience any of the "no phone showing" in iTunes. Of course they did not have HS and they were using a MBP.

But, clearly, there is an issue here for MANY users!! I have two Macs and I tried 3 iPhones!! iTunes would ask for permission, the dialog box would pop up on the iPhone and permission given, but the iPhone never showed up!

I was even on the phone with Apple for almost 3 hours and they had no problems just telling me that I need Mojave or greater, even after me telling them my hardware is not on their compatible list! Telling me that my choices were to buy new computers or use only the iCloud to backup my phones! (We even tried deleting everything and resetting the iPhone. That reset every thing, but it was still iOS 13! And, that did NOT work.)

That's not an acceptable solution Apple, especially since I am not the only one!

I still have an open case and I will be getting back in touch with them soon... I was just hoping to find a real solution.

Wow. I spent nearly 45 minutes on the phone with Apple Support. (I have an iPhone 8 (IOS13.2) and a mid 2011 iMac running High Sierra and iTunes 12.8.2.3) My phone wouldn't show up in iTunes. The gal at Support couldn't help, and she got her supervisor who told me that my computer is so old that it no longer will work with the newest IOS, so I either had to subscribe to Apple Music or buy a newer computer. That was where they left me. Then I stumbled onto this site, and I did what Turningtest 2 said to try. After about 3 minutes of downloading and installing, my phone now shows up in iTunes!!!!

Thank you SO MUCH!!!

Yeah. I already tried that. Nothing happens. No windows or popups. Nothing happens and iTunes does not see my iPhone ios13. The iTunes is already running the newest version for high sierra. 12.8.2.3

at techspot:

Note: iTunes 12.9 is not available as a standalone installer. Apple has chosen to only make available bundled with Mojave. You can always download the installer for iTunes 12.8 from here and then update once installed.

No doubt you iOS devices can be used with iTunes 12.8.2.3 under High Sierra, but what I am interested is would be to do it by iTunes 12.6.5.3 to keep local updates on the computer. As I said before, tried to move to iOS 12 to 13 directly with this version of iTunes, it does not work, while it might work over the air fro you.

Another option would be to use Catalina and its new options, but I too have some app that 32 bit only, thus I will not move to iOS 13 so far...

Are you using a VPN? You might also try checking for malware with a trial of https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/.

I see I asked the above already but you didn't respond. Third party security software might also interfere with the connection to software update, or stale DNS records. Reboot your router if you haven't already. You could try switching to Google's public DNS servers on 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Any updates on this serious issue??

------

13.1.2 did not fix it either. My mac is High Sierra with iTunes 12.8.2.3. My machine cannot update to Mojave. I currently still have a ticket. Was on phone with Apple top tier for over 2 hours. I even recovered my phone, however it only recovers to 13.1.2! I have 2 Macs - HighSierra, neither one recognizes my 2 iPhones (6s+ & SE, both 13 compatible). AND my son came by he has iPhone 7 with 13.1.2 and my Macs ask for permission, he gives, and then they just never show up in iTunes!! Situation is Messed UP! I cannot go out and buy new Macs to work with my iPhone. They suggested backing up to iCloud. I don't have super internet here that is not an option!! I am going to talk with them again, but I don't see them doing anything unless more people call/contact them!! If you have this issue...Call them and tell them iTunes needs a FIX! (Catalina will be totally removing iTunes and using Finder, so they don't seem to care about High Sierra??)

Thank you tt2. This worked great for me.

I have multiple systems and devices. My older iMac could not be updated beyond High Sierra (10.13.6). I updated both my iPhone 7 (iOS 13.1.2) and iPad mini4 (iPadOS 13.1.2) and neither was recognized by iTunes. However my old iPod and iPhone 5s (12.4.2) continued to be to recognized. Further my MacBook Air with Catalina (10.15) saw the iPhone 7 and iPad Mini 4. So it seemed obvious that the problem was in the interface between iTunes 12.8.2.3 and iOS 13.1.2 and not a cable or connector on the devices.

Your suggestion for getting the software update solved the issue. Thanks again!

I spent almost 5 hours chatting and on the phone with Apple's Mac and IOS "experts". I had the same problem. They told me that because my Mac OS is El Capitan and iTunes 10.8.2.3 are not compatible with the iOS 13. The software is "not compatible" was the final response I got after the 5th person trying to help me. After about 15 minutes searching with different, more specific criteria, I found this. Instant gratification.

So much for Apple's "experts". I could tell while talking to the guy on the phone he was just looking at websites and couldn't find El Capitan and iOS 13 on the same page, so he told me they were incompatible. What a waste of time.
