Unable to rearrange app icons in ios 13

Hi, I just confirmed that this bug is still present and not fixed in iOS 13.1.2.

Is there a better way of making Apple aware than discussing here? I would guess it can be fixed easily and it might drive people crazy because with the change in behaviour of iOS 13 they might think they are doing something wrong ...

Hoping for fix in next release ... at least we have a workaround.

Thanks for whoever discovered zoom effecting the ability to arrange icons. i surely the latest update would fix it. It was maddening. I don’t really use zoom. But for those that need it. Toggling back and forth would be frustrating.

YAY! Helped me as well. I was the only family member that had this issue after the update. Was driving me crazy and I would have never thought of this. Even spent time chatting with an Apple rep trying to solve the issue. They suggested a complete restore. Glad I found your answer and didn't have to resort to that. Thanks!

Paul thanks for the tip. I was getting soo annoyed that something so simple and basic was frustrating as heck. Hopefully this is corrected in 13.1.2 ios . Again a big Thanx for posting I am sure there are many who will appreciate it. 1000 Points for you.

This doesn't solve the issue for me. The app icons still get "frozen" (without the x)

Trying the "extra pressure" method recommended doesn't help either.

It shouldn't be this difficult. Worked just fine before....

Confirmed PaulTJ's fix works.

Settings > Accessibility > Zoom > Zoom > toggle off.

BTW Accessibility is in its own Settings submenu now, not under General.

Apple, if you want to do something truly useful, you can tidy up the Settings menu. I count seven subgroups of items before getting to third party apps, each with its selections in random (non-alphabetical) order. Perhaps a mentor or intern project?

And of course fix the bug. I kinda need the zoom feature, for maps and mobile-unfriendly websites.

It's easy to reproduce so it shouldn't be too hard to debug.

Perhaps a second mentor (new hire) project for someone to dig into the code:-)

“Hey Siri. Open Accessibility” is one quickish way to get to 3-finger zoom settings.

The triple-click pop-up menu (Home or Power button, device dependant) is another, once it is set up in Accessibility/ Accessibility Shortcuts.

@PaulTJ - You’re awesome! I had the same issue! Thank You! I don’t know that I would have ever made the association between this problem and the zoom function. Certainly a newly introduced bug! This was not an issue before the iOS 13 upgrade. Thank you for posting this fix!

Thanks for the info but it’s not a fix but another workaround. I too use zoom function and to move apps I have to disable the zoom function then re–enable zoom when done. iOS could be great if Apple’s latest gimmick didn’t fall flat at the first hurdle for anyone who has zoom enabled. Appreciate your time and effort but Apple should be saying this and then fixing it.

Paul- I’m extremely grateful to you right now, as I assume a bunch of other people will be!! It was driving me NUTS- aside from the fact that I had enabled the zoom feature accidentally in the first place (and thus didn't know how to disable) and it always kept popping up!!!! Killed two birds with one stone.

Thank you, this was indeed the problem. Apple really needs to fix the Zoom issues in this new iOS. I love using that feature so having to turn it off to get the phone to work is NOT a long-term solution.

I had the same issue. Thank you for figuring this out. It worked fine without the magnifier enabled, but I need this for my disability. Apple should fix this right away. I just upgraded to iOS 13.1.3 and it is still not fixed.

I had the same problem and worked out that if I made sure the App I wanted to move wasn’t “active”, in other words was on its home page or no adverts were running (for example in the torch app) then voila I could move it to wherever I wanted it to go! This happened to me 5 times (as I had only just got my phone) and each time i fixed it using the above technique.

THANKYOU SO MUCH! I cannot explain how much you’ve actually helped me! I’ve been struggling with this since I updated to IOS13 as well as a pop up notification constantly tagging my phone saying ‘zoom enables’ and by disabling the 3 finger zoom has fixed them both. I’m ether ally grateful for you!
