When I'm trying to delete an email out of the Mail app it looks like it is deleting, but then doesn't delete

When I'm trying to delete an email out of the Mail app (specifically a "live/Hotmail" account) in iOS 13, it looks like it is deleting, but then doesn't delete. I have to press the delete button again for it to actually delete. Anyone else having issues with this? I deleted and re-added the affected account, but it still does it.

Update, 13.1.1 did resolve the issue. Tested with a few more emails after my post above.

I think i started a live chat had to follow all the steps they told me to first.


delete mail app re instal mail app


erase iPhone and set up as new etc


just state that you wish to open a case because the mail app doesn’t function correctly. Emails don’t load fast enough on opening of the app, have to open emails twice for new email notifications to clear, have to delete mail twice and emails also appear to be sent twice. Also give them a link to this support page for ref and tell them you want a case number.

Opened a case as per MARK2620’s suggestion. Asked me to restart me phone which I did. We did a screen connect, and one or two emails later, Mail app was behaving properly. However, I told him this case is far from being closed as I want to see correct behavior for several days across multiple devices with all 3 of my Exchange accounts. Mail had worked perfectly for me since iOS 8 to 12, but not 13. Will report back with what I see happening over the next several days.

Start at the top and read through the thread - several users have been working directly with Apple support at several levels and have stated they acknowledge the issue and Apple is working on it. They have given them screen shots, deep level diagnostics, etc. Some levels of support blame it on Microsoft, other levels of support acknowledge that that is is a bug Apple is trying to address. That’s the latest. Bottom line - IT IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED. And there is NOTHING we can do at this current rev level of 13.2.

I first saw this on my Iphone 11 Pro. Then I upgraded a separate Iphone X from IOS 12.4.1 to IOS 13.1.2. With both phones on IOS 13.1.2 and Microsoft Exchange mail set on both. Only the Iphone 11 Pro requires it to be deleted twice. The Iphone X setup with the same mail account only requires 1 delete. I ran tests by sending 4 separate mails which were exactly the same, which went to both phones. First test deleted off Iphone 11 Pro, required 2 deletes. Next deleted off Iphone X, only 1 delete required. Repeated and same results.
