When I'm trying to delete an email out of the Mail app it looks like it is deleting, but then doesn't delete

When I'm trying to delete an email out of the Mail app (specifically a "live/Hotmail" account) in iOS 13, it looks like it is deleting, but then doesn't delete. I have to press the delete button again for it to actually delete. Anyone else having issues with this? I deleted and re-added the affected account, but it still does it.

Thanks!

When I opened a case with Apple, they did collect debugging data plus a screen recording of the issue. I too was unable to replicate the double delete while on the phone with them, but did demonstrate needing to read twice to mark as read. We also collected screenshots of the mail settings to confirm that was correct. I was assured I would get a call back on Tuesday. They claimed I would receive a timeline for a fix.

I have reported this issue three times since ios13 was released. As others have stated, this is not the apple of old; They are apathetic and embarrassingly negligent in supporting their own operating system. When I reached a senior support specialist today (my 3rd time contacting about this), I was told it is a problem with outlook and Gmail not updating their API to accommodate iOS 13. The support specialist assured me it is a known issue, but passed the buck to Microsoft (and Google, I suppose), and offered no prediction as to when it might be resolved.

if you are reading this forum and have not contacted Apple support with a complaint, please do so now. It primarily affects business users (those using 365), which constitute a minority of Apple users. If we don’t all speak up in unison, there will be no impetus to address this problem.

I have a case open with Apple for this. The case had been moved to their enterprise support. The short story is that Apple says it’s a Microsoft problem and Microsoft says their platforms fully support EAS services. Microsoft says that iOS implementation of EAS is Apple’s problem to fix. So, it’s become a finger pointing game.

As of this posting, my Exchange account is working fine after removing the account and setting it up manually. I doubt this will last more than 24 hours. All the suggested fixes so far have only provided temporary relief.

Our only hope at this point is for the developers to address the issue in future releases. iOS 13.3 is likely coming within a month or so. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Start at the top and read through the thread - several users have been working directly with Apple support at several levels and have stated they acknowledge the issue and Apple is working on it. They have given them screen shots, deep level diagnostics, etc. Some levels of support blame it on Microsoft, other levels of support acknowledge that that is is a bug Apple is trying to address. That’s the latest. Bottom line - IT IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED. And there is NOTHING we can do at this current rev level of 13.2.

yes I’m included also have been trying to work with Apple but the response I was given was that there was nothing Apple could do and they would not admit fault. Yes others have said Apple are working on it, but do you believe it? I spoke to senior team again yesterday and it’s been fed back to engineering again. Surly if Apple was working on it I would of been told this.

But that's the nature of the bug...it isn't universal, so their developers will need to work out what is going on! I've gone two days now without it happening at all, then just 30 mins ago it started to happen on my iPhone again. For info I'm connecting to outlook.com (Exchange), it's definitely an Apple issue as this didn't use to be a problem prior to IOS 13!

I do not exactly know why this forum / discussion group exists... I’m following it some time now to see what it brings to the readers, the only thing I see is repeatedly writing the same frustration about some SERIOUS issues regarding the native email app since IOS 13.

Also I understand that there is no link between the content of this forum and actual Apple engineering department. A lot “noise” here that’s true, but really?? Even Microsoft has some seniors / people reading their forum groups.

Anyway, from all facts and frustrations here, I try to narrow it down to some conclusion what’s actually going on since IOS 13 regarding the NATIVE EMAIL APP.

1: e-mail messages need to be deleted twice to get deleted.

2: a e-mail message needs to be opened twice to get the status (blue point) from unread to read

3: e-mails need to be closed en opened again several times (sometimes more then twice) before it is possible to FORWARD OR REPLYING it without loosing the original body / text.

4: What I am not sure about: are “ONLY” users affected that have a Microsoft E-mail account so outlook.com hotmail.com live.nl etc etc.

I invite readers to reply on my message if they experience this issues while NOT having a email account with Microsoft.

I hope that - pre-chewing this information SOMEBODY of you readers (moderator?) can forward the results to Apple support somehow. Yes somebody can - of course....

No I am NOT getting in contact myself - reading to much here about ignoring this serious problems...

And IF it has something to do with active sync or other Microsoft protocol: It all worked just fine until I installed IOS 13.... And we users should not be busy with this:

FIX IT !!!!!

Why? The forum exists so that users can assist other users. Apple simply provide the forum infrastructure. Ain't nobody here but us chickens

Its not up to someone in charge of the forum to liaise with Apple. It is your call at apple.com/feedback if nobody (as in this case) can guide you to a workaround.

In answer to your specific question 4, no it doesn't apply specifically to Microsoft emails because my outlook.com accounts do not have this problem. My problem is duplicate Sent items only.

When I'm trying to delete an email out of the Mail app it looks like it is deleting, but then doesn't delete
