How to disable “one more minute” on Screen Time?

Hi Guys, i used to use the Screen Time to lock my apps, using 1 minute as time limit for all apps. After IOS 13, now there is a option that you can access any app for “one more minute”. I think that it can be usefull for somepeople but i really didnt like that there is no option to disable it. Is there any way to disable? Thanks

Got this issue too, one of my kids is having the 'One more minute' option on her iPhone7 iOS13 which she can click over and over again for multiple apps at any time she likes....

Apple please fix this, we need a way to disable this 'One more minute' option, now screen time is useless........

It has baffled me for a year now as to how a company with so many young people and those with kids have not foreseen this workaround that our kids, from technology inept parents, have figured out in minutes of using their iPad. My simple solution is only charging up the iPads for a limited time so they run flat after an hour... probably to the detriment of the battery’s long term life.

For the Apple’s developers and customer care, pls. add an option in the next iOS update for a parent to be able disable ”One minute more” function. As you have seen from this discussion this hidden feature is causing issues for family screen time management and may be harmful for a child’s growth and furthermore Apple’s Sustainability image.

I posted on this thread about a year ago and it is still an issue. It’s an utter joke that Apple can’t resolve this huge flaw in their tech?

in addition if a child goes into settings and simply changes their time zone (as my child did in downtime!) they can just use the tablet normally!

Also in addition, he found if you go to YouTube and zoom in, it also bypasses the downtime!

terrible, Steve Jobs would never have let this happen under his control. Very sad.

Because it isn’t just one more minute it’s one more minute over and over on every single app on the iPad In The middle of the night when downtime is on. So an hour and a half of that till 2am in the morning is a problem to me and my child when they should be getting valuable sleep. So don’t generalise and think you know it all!

Ha, thanks Kiarawilliamss for your reassuring words. However I know this, you either intentionally or otherwise miss the point completely. I don’t want my kids on their tablets 24/7. And I also don’t want to have to go and collect their tablets every night. It’s annoying that when you set time limits, they can just get round them due to poor functionality by Apple. What’s the point in screen time, if it just doesn’t work?

Firstly, it’s not just one more minute to a determined kid, it’s one minute PER APP. Plus if your kid is smart, like mine, they can keep doing one more minute in the same app.

Then in addition if they’re smart, like mine, they realise they can watch YouTube non stop by making it a small side window and if they go to settings and change the time zone to the other side of the world, they completely bypass screentime!

This is garbage by Apple and it’s frustrating we all shout into the void and they just ignore / don’t even read the threads!

I think Apple is not going to go back on that and actually probably did it on purpose. From a business perspective, Apple wants more addiction to Apple products and, expecially with the kids, the long term business plan was limited by this feature (especially in Covid times). However.... I am sad to see that this did not raise any kind of compliance or moral rumors around the Company, which could have oblige it to rethink to it. At least, I hope it will very soon...

I think that if your child has his/her own iCloud account then s/he should only be able to use “one more minute” once. If it’s set up as an adult account with screen time YOU enabled on it (or maybe you are sharing an account), then there are indefinite “one more minutes” your child can use. The obvious solution to this problem would be to use the Apple Family feature (if possible) so you can properly set up screen time. I’m not an expert but I think this is a valid idea and you could try it. You also get controls over app purchases and more when you do this so it’s something to consider. BTW, the accounts are free :)
