Apple Pay not working after IOS 13 update

Go to Settings > Cellular and scroll down to find the “cellular data” section. Scroll down further to find Wallet and make sure that it is enabled. 

After I updated my IOS, I found it turned off!

I recently got my phone repaired from Apple and looks like they damaged this screw while replacing my battery.

I reached out Apple to help and they were unable to help me and asked me to buy a new phone, fortunately i read this article and tried to check if this was the issue and to my amazement yes the screw and the whole unit was never screwed in properly so the ApplePay was not working since last few months. I have fixed my phone and left apple and the Authorized service center a feedback i hope they take some action

I have iPhone 8 and same issue. When touch to payment terminal asking me for TouchID and unlocking phone. Card is not showing up. I need to go to Wallet, choose the card then I can pay.

iOS 13.1.3 is out and should fix the Apple Pay problem.

I used to be able to pay for things while my phone was locked, by placing my phone near the NFC reader then resting my thumb on the home button fingerprint reader. Now, I need to open up “wallet” and tap on my payment card before it will work. Very annoying!

I, including many others, face the same problem in iphone 6S/7/8 models and neither 13.1 nor 13.1.2 updates have fixed this issue yet. Apple should look into this as early as possible as there is no proper response from them.

Are you double-clicking the side button to bring up Apple Pay?

It seemed to be solved but failed again after incremental updates. The answer seem to be a hard reboot but its very annoying and embarrassing at checkouts.

Turn OFF Magnifier at the settings/accessibility and the problem is slowed

Same on my SE. I got it working yesterday (after a failure) for one transaction by putting the phone into standby and then going back in, and then trying it, but it didn’t seem to work today. It used to just automatically work when the phone was near the payment device with no interaction beyond my fingerprint to okay it. It’s never failed like this before the update.

Allow access when closed has nothing to do with this issue! That’s only for you to be able to double click to open your wallet when your phone is locked (which I think it’s kind of annoying). You don’t need that option to be toggled on. Usually when you hold your phone in close proximity to the reader the NFC triggers and opens the wallet automatically; so no need for double clicking at all.

I think it’s just an iOS 13 problem for now. Hopefully it gets solved with ios13.1 on September 25.

To me Apple Pay not working after an update is a game breaker. I would be calling support back and insisting they connect me with a supervisor or higher level support team or visiting the Apple store.

I have to say I got great support when I called, and we nutted out the problem together. Even got tech to test and fix 2 older phones with similar NFC problems.

You have to change the region to United States in Settings

This is turning out to be a global issue where more no. of users are impacted. Hopefully Apple provides a fix in the next update. This is not working yet despite the provided troubleshooting techniques as mentioned in the thread:

1. Normal Phone restart
2. Device hard reset
3. Set it up as new iPhone after the device backup
4. Re-adding the card

I have this problem on my iPhone SE since updating to iOS 13.3, so it is yet to be addressed. I've tried rebooting etc - to no avail.

On a shortwave radio, I can 'hear' the NFC attempting to poll a (non-existent) POS device, so the RF side works ok. Must be a software problem in iOS.

It is VERY embarrassing at a checkout; Apple need to fix it quickly if Apple Pay is not to stumble.
