iPhone 11 Pro getting HOT

Just received my iPhone 11 Pro and after a few minutes of light use, the back and sides heat up to where I can barely hold the phone. Any ideas?

Yes I’ve experienced the same. The phone gets really hot in the back and sides. Also - the wireless charging is really slow. An entire night of wireless charging (6+hours) took my battery from 46% to 73%. That is not good at all. Did anyone else experience the same issue ?

I just bought the iPhone 11 Pro Max it arrived this morning set it up and finished at around 12pm. Baring in mind I’ve been at work for 4:15-8:15 and it’s already heating up and I’m only on a phone call not impressed got a new phone because my old one overheats and shows the alert for this my new phone is hot when charging especially the charger itself! I’m so annoyed by this as the one main reason I got this phone was because of the overheating issue I had with the iPhone 7 after it had been dropped. Considering this is a new and improved phone it’s not impressing me with the heat at all😓

Did it shut down with a message that it was too hot or did it shut down/reboot because of the battery not able to supply enough power?

If its the first one I would take it back to Apple & tell them the phone is faulty.

If its the second one then you will have to wait until one of the updates actually manages to fix the faulty iOS 13.

You never know iOS 14 might be the saviour or it might just be the same crap in a different wrapper!!!!!!

I purchased a regular 11 last week. I was on apple news for about 20 minutes this morning with 100% charge. It was in my pocket for the rest of the day. At about one in the afternoon it felt really hot in my pocket. I pulled it out and the screen was frozen too. I put it in the fridge for a few minutes to try to cool it down. The temperature went down but the screen was still unresponsive. I did a hard reboot (up volume press and release- down volume press and release- right button hold) which restarted the phone. The screen was working again but the battery life was down to 50%. I checked the battery settings and it lost 50% in about an hour and a half with no apps running and the phone locked. It claims the battery is still perfect. I have all the latest updates. What’s the deal Apple?

I bought an Apple 11 phone from a famous Sri Lankan trader in Colombo named Greenware this year. I was experiencing overheating and low speaker volume when watching movies and listening to music during the corona lockdown period. I was unable to visit the store and complaint as Sri Lanka was on lockdown mode so I recently went and spoke to them. They said to bring the phone after 3 months. Still my warranty is valid. I was a loyal Apple user and I am quite disappointed about this issue and I want Apple to inspect the phone and fix the issue as soon as possible.

Ttoday is 7/420-I received my phone 7/2-noticed right away While I was setting it up and transferring data that it gets abnormally hot. Will contact Apple; this is not normal. I don't even have it in a case yet, haven’t even streamed music or video, what happens then? I paid waaaaay too much for this phone to be having issues right out of the box...

Have you had this model phone before? If not, how can you state what is normal or not?

During set up and while transferring data it will get hot, you're using the CPU as near 100% as you can get, plus the phone's radios are also being used 100% of the time.

Once setup is complete, it will be much cooler in normal use.

You're not necessarily having issues, you're just asking it to do a lot more than you would under any other circumstance.

This is my 7th? Iphone I stopped counting I have been using Apple products since 2008.

I upgraded from iPhone 8 Plus which I still have and still use for the reason iPhone max pro 11 gets too hot and uncomfortable , (the camera on my iPhone 8 plus stopped working) , hence the reason I upgraded to iPhone 11 Pro Max.

I have an OtterBox identical on my Iphone max 11 Pro that I have on my 8+ (clear case) , same apps, same habits and usage as before.

However, the new Iphone Max 11 Pro gets hot, it doesn’t burn, but it’s hot enough that it’s very uncomfortable and after a few minutes I feel a minor burning and tingling sensation in the palm of my hand.

I did not and do not have this issue with my iphone 8 plus! or any of the other Iphones over the years.

I need to find an air conditioner to cool a $900 phone off? for real? Some things I've noticed: The battery optimization can appear normal yet, the temperature still runs way too hot, for comfort - not a little warm. I called Apple - they replaced my phone - great - thank you ... but on the new install the new 11 was burning (abnormally). The first iPhone 11 did this too, on the first install. Over a period of about 30 days the battery started to degrade and lose its charge - and fast, at times - like in 3-4 hours - almost like my old worn out iPhone 6 used to do. Always runs hot with Messages app, Mail app, Spotify, iPhotos, - no app is immune - and no rhyme or reason - just a fail. This runs so hot I think, no way this is SAFE exposure. It's not the safety case, either - this things runs hot out of the protective case - NOT NORMAL heat. When I charge this at night it runs hot, with apps closed - then it sometimes drains, in 3-4 hours. Also, when I place my phone in my pants pocket it gets my thigh hot - such a pain to have to deal with - way less than a good "user experience," Apple - and appears to be of cheap, low inspection, manufacturing, APPLE! Not sure how Apple could even consider releasing this ... If this hotness persists, for two days, which it probably will, based on how hot is is now (new out of the box) - I'll be returning this second 11, and going for a lower level phone ... Good luck y'all. - So disappointed.

“New powerful processor” that gets so hot it prevents you from using your phone!

My point is, it doesn’t matter about the processor or the device type/model. My first priority is I should be able to hold my phone and use it, to feel physically uncomfortable holding a hot phone Where it hurts your hands after a while. This is a HUGE issue.

Agreed. Id rather have a less powerful processor and a normal temperature phone, then the world fastest processor that runs too hot in my hands and pocket. Apple replaced my too-hot phone, as it was within warranty. Ill update in a few weeks to post how this is goung, but you may want to call support. Good luck to you- this shouldnt happen like this.
