iPhone 11 Pro getting HOT

Just received my iPhone 11 Pro and after a few minutes of light use, the back and sides heat up to where I can barely hold the phone. Any ideas?

I have read through all posts and want to offer my 2 cents

My iphone 11 pro was normal until I started using the keynote app. It heated up real fast to a point that it is uncomfortably hot (within 1 min). Whenever I switch to other apps, the phone starts to cool. If I switch keynote on, phone starts cooking again. That’s obviously very weird, then I found this thread.

So following the discussion, I made sure my iOS is up to date on 13.1.1. Then I checked my “battery” tab in the settings, 10 min of using keynote consumed 15% battery, while the whole day of using other apps only make up 85%. Keynote is essential to me in my job, so deleting it is not an option. I also didn’t want to “reset all settings”. Instead, I closed settings>general>background app refresh. That totally fixed the problem

To sum up, here is what you can do if your phone is heating up abnormally

  1. make sure it’s running the latest iOS
  2. check which app consumed the most energy under settings>battery>battery usage by app, delete the problematic app if it’s not essential
  3. close the “background refresh” of that app (check other battery saving tips online, it could be other tricks)
  4. if none of the above worked, reset all setting (settings>general>reset>reset all settings)
  5. still no luck, contact apple for replacement

I have the same uncomfortable sensation in my hands that lingers on (heat/radiatio) and concerned about health issues.

I was told by Apple Representatives that I may have too many Apps open or this is that, this issue is only with 11 pro max and not my 8 plus I used previouse to this model.

I was told to take my phone into an apple store to have it checked, at this time it’s difficult to get an appointment at the store due to pandemic.

So many people on here having the same issue raises concern.

I recently bought Apple i phone11 pro

if I had know about the heating issue I would not have purchased it

its bad the phone generates so much heat even after shutting all apps that I cannot hold it in my hand

i took off the cover it does not help

apple needs to listen to their consumers and fix this issue or replace the phone

i spent over a 1000 dollars!

I was charging my 11 pro, when it was 70% I needed to use it for 40 minutes, I noticed it was quite hot taking it off the charge, and half way through my work it shut itself off because it was too hot. 9-21-20. Sounds dangerous. Ten minutes later it is back on and cool. I’m doing a music app lesson on a music stand so it’s not in a hot spot.

I was wondering, if ya phone issues are still fixed or does your phone get real hot again ?

I have tried 2 iPhone pro max already and both get real hot when charging ( does cool down alittle when almost charged 100%) , and get real hot when talking on phone for a long period of time or playing videos or just on the phone on sites for a long time . When I went back this last time , T-Mobile agent talked to apple support .they checked the battery etc and of course they said it was ok .

i have to go back to the store again cause they said since just doing last update to wait to see it it corrects problem in a few days or so .well it didn’t help .was thinking maybe getting a different model of iPhone like maybe 10 but not sure if I should or just try, one more time ,to see if another iPhone Pro Max would be different .just don’t know what I should do ! Very displeased with this phone .

I have never had problems with any iPhone I have purchased before .

iPhone 11 Pro Max bought less than a month ago, SCREEN is hot to the touch not just the sides/back. Never saw that on my old 8 Plus or any other iPhone I’ve owned back since iOS 3 or so, this phone is up to date with the latest iOS. No case.

Battery - Usage: Safari 83%, only a few tabs open including this one, all other apps closed including Mail. Not using sites with heavy JS.

Yes it IS an issue if the phone gets this hot to the touch even without shutting down, it’s a safety hazard and a QA failure as far as I’m concerned if it physically hurts my fingers like this.
