iPhone 11 Pro getting HOT
Just received my iPhone 11 Pro and after a few minutes of light use, the back and sides heat up to where I can barely hold the phone. Any ideas?

I have read through all posts and want to offer my 2 cents
My iphone 11 pro was normal until I started using the keynote app. It heated up real fast to a point that it is uncomfortably hot (within 1 min). Whenever I switch to other apps, the phone starts to cool. If I switch keynote on, phone starts cooking again. That’s obviously very weird, then I found this thread.
So following the discussion, I made sure my iOS is up to date on 13.1.1. Then I checked my “battery” tab in the settings, 10 min of using keynote consumed 15% battery, while the whole day of using other apps only make up 85%. Keynote is essential to me in my job, so deleting it is not an option. I also didn’t want to “reset all settings”. Instead, I closed settings>general>background app refresh. That totally fixed the problem
To sum up, here is what you can do if your phone is heating up abnormally

Update to 13.6.1 update, use 5w original Apple charger that will not heat your phone during charging and minimize your use and limit your multi tasking work with not playing games you will be good to go.

Actually I hope upgrading to 13.1 will help fix this issue.
my 11 Pro max got very overheated not took the case off and it returned to normal. Has anyone experienced something like this with their 11 pro max?
Yes it happened once to my max running 13.1 Found the phone hot and unresponsive in my front pocket. I had to do a master reset to get it working again. Never did it again since.
Given it's under warranty, if you think it's malfunctioning why wouldn't you take it in?

If you're concerned, take it in to be checked:
Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple
Otherwise, don't worry about it; heat is a normal byproduct when charging batteries.
i had the same problem i had changed the phone cover to silicone one and the problem seems to have kind off disappeared.
I did the same had mine replaced 10 days ago and by far the second one is smooth and hasn't been running hot.

This is unacceptable from Apple I need to get into touch with them
Here's how you do just that:
The phone should shut itself off before it became hot enough to cause an actual burn.
Contact Apple Support directly if you believe it is reaching such a temperature:
Contact - Official Apple Support
CALL support. If they can't fix they may replace it.
