iPhone 11 Pro getting HOT
Just received my iPhone 11 Pro and after a few minutes of light use, the back and sides heat up to where I can barely hold the phone. Any ideas?

Yes I’ve experienced the same. The phone gets really hot in the back and sides. Also - the wireless charging is really slow. An entire night of wireless charging (6+hours) took my battery from 46% to 73%. That is not good at all. Did anyone else experience the same issue ?
I just got the 11 Pro yesterday and I seriously don’t like this phone. It gets HOT! I removed it from the case and it didn’t help. I’m also having issues with apps running incredibly slow as well as freezing up. I purchased the pro for the better camera. It was a ridiculous price to pay for a phone that is giving off this much heat and runs this slowly. I will be going back to the Apple store. My 6s that I had up until yesterday was better. This is not acceptable.
Dec 23 2019 I just got my new iPhone 11Pro last evening as an early Christmas gift from my son John . His twin, my son James and I transferred all my info from my iPhone 8 to this 11Pro this morning ( with Apple’s help). My iPhone 11Pro’s back has been really hot and still is very hot to the touch even hours after the transfer . I worry .
It will take up to a day for the phone to rebuild all of its databases and indices during which the phone may run hotter than normal and use more battery.
Use it normally but don't worry about the heat until a day has gone by, and even then it's not an issue unless the phone shuts itself off due to overheating.
I've just brought my iphone 11 less than a week ago and have noticed after less than 5 minutes of use it becomes very hot, as others have said nearly uncomfortable to hold. As others have mentioned as well, I can not see how this can be good for the battery life or the phone in general. I sincerely hope that apple acknowledge this issue, because I really don't want to have a phone that I paid good money for ******** itself after a short period of time!
Me too.
I just got the iPhone 11 Pro Max and literally the battery has been draining SO quickly that it doesn’t even last me till 5 pm AND on top of that it’s been heating up after just a minute of being on YouTube or Instagram. Which never happened with the iPhone Xs Max. So this is kind of a let down.
My brand new iPhone 11 Pro gets very, very hot all the time too. It get worse as I use it longer. I am considering getting an Otter case for my iPhone so I can comfortably hold it. I suspect that, as the number of calls to Apple about this hot batterY problem increase, Apple will either try to do an update to fix it, or if it gets much worse , Will just issue a recall on the battery
Once again note that unless your phone goes into thermal shutdown, there is nothing inherently wrong with it getting hot if the processor is being used heavily.
One thing to check when this occurs is if a particular app or app is using a lot of battery; often this behavior is caused by a third party app that is not fully compatible with iOS 13.

Are you using them via apps or Safari?
I don't use the YouTube app and have no issues with YouTube in Safari; if it's via the app you may want to check with YouTube to see if they have a fix.
I’ve had my iPhone 11 for about a week and I just picked up my phone. It was half under a pillow not charging while I was napping. It was warm to the touch. I got a phone call and nearly burnt my ear it was so hot.
Just bought the iPhone11Pro. Expensive. So playing with it on the way home, not doing anything special it got very hot. As many others have already reported. Whenever it downloads even simple things it immediately gets abnormally, alarmingly hot. And it’s chewing through battery life without doing much at all.
I will be watching it very closely over the next few weeks and hope it settles down. I hope Apple develop a fix.
When my iPhone 11 Pro got burning hot on the very first day I got it, I checked to see what apps were on and closed all apps that I had open , and tried re-booting to cool it. It was still burning hot, so I tried letting the battery delete, and then recharging. Now I bought a heavy Otter case (Defender Pro ) and my phone does not FEEL burning hot , but I think it is the case that somehow does that , not my iPhone 11 Pro
You say that if it does not go into thermal shutdown theres nothing inherently wrong with it.
however, as other people have said, my 11 pro also heats up while just browsing the internet, with no other applications running, to the point its displeasing to use it. So something must be wrong. More so, that this is not an issue on all 11s, it seems.
i transferred all settings from my old iphone 7 and i use the 11 in the same way, but never had an issue like this on the 7.
dont understand why youre trying to prove everyone wrong, while theres an obvious issue with the phone.
Ever since I receive mine in September, I use it about five minutes I can feel my hands start burning. It feels like I have a sunburn on my hands. I’m wondering if these things are emitting a higher amount of radiation than recommend? If this persists I’m getting rid of this. It’s not comfortable to go around all day with your hands hurting.
The only way I could solve this heat problem was to buy a solid Otter Defender Case for my iPhone 11 Pro. All the controls and camera work perfectly with it on, and I rarely feel any hint of heat. It is not dainty and elegant , but it keeps me from feeling the heat . The couple of times I dropped my cellphone on concrete and marble floors, my phone was marvelously protected. It is just a shame that Otter does not make the Defender case in a dainty color and style instead of a military style.
My IPhone 11 Pro heats up like anything after couple of minutes of using google maps. It is just 5 days old and this is seriously disappointing. I am sure the heating issue will persist while using other apps as well. Also, the screen goes black during call and doesn’t wake up. After spending huge, getting such malfunctioning device is absolutely unacceptable.
This is my second iPhone 11. My first one completely malfunctioned and the store told me it was unfixable. It was burning to the touch and the screen had rainbow waves through it. I got a replacement phone and it is mostly fine but it still gets really hot, usually while I’m charging it. I unplug and it’s fine. While using maps for directions or other basic apps it’s so hot I can’t hold it. It’s so unusual and I wish I hadn’t upgraded from
my XR which had no problems.
