If I have any audio playing and open the message app is turns off my music or podcast. How do I stop this?

UPDATE: Seems going to Settings > Music and turning off “Show Apple Music” has resolved the problem. This removes the Browse and For You tabs in the music app. It is a temporary fix but one that allows the continuous streaming of my playlists. Hopefully, a permanent solution is on its way.
I tried that and changing the settings of autoplay message effects but nothing works. I still can’t listen to music or podcast on my phone . It’s been weeks, this is ridiculous

Yes after I updated my music also stops playing when I open my messages app. I have an iPhone 8
That did it for me... Did the update this morning... was so happy about Swipe! then the music thing put a downer and you saved my morning thank you!
Apple could care less. They have our money. Apple is more concerned with shutting down iTunes and pushing Apple TV, Music.
iOS13 is getting universally panned and the company has done nothing.
This worked for me. i have a iphone 6s.
I found a work around. Turn on iMessage and then at the bottom turn off raise to listen and then turn off iMessage. With this I can now keep music playing while chatting.

Same here with 13.1.2 on IPhone 8plus.
i had to stop listening to Pandora to search the problem and write this. SO annoying! Please correct this oversight Big Brother!
This corrected itself on 8 plus after closing down all other open apps. Was not an issue before 13.1.2 but that does fix the problem for now.
i am on Apple music 3 months trial and when I open another app it stops playing APPLE MUSIC SONGS. Do not have this issue when play songs from my library
Going into messages and turning off the “raise to listen” option fixed it for me !
Reboot worked for me.
