iPhone 11 Pro Max 4G LTE Signal Issue

The new iPhone 11 Pro Max loses 4G signal from time to time (every a few minutes) when the Wi-Fi is off or no valid Wi-Fi hot spot is nearby.

Wi-Fi is off: The 4G signal drops to null in a sudden, and restores to full (4 bars) in 2-3 seconds. This happens regularly.

Wi-Fi is connected: The bars are steady - stay at 4 all the time.

I have tried:

  1. Disable Auto Network Selection
  2. Reset Network Settings
  3. Reset All Settings
  4. Reset All Content and Settings

None of them shows promising improvement.

I think I’ve worked out the cause of the cellular issue. I have Norton Antivirus installed which uses a vpn. It seems the vpn affects the data connection. I turned off web protection from the Norton’s app and all is working. Let. Me know if it works.

I just upgraded my wife and I to the iPhone 11 Pro Max from the iPhone X about 2 days ago and have had the same signal issues as some of you guys. But, after troubleshooting like crazy, I felt stupid when I discovered it, but our signal issues were due to our phone cases. I bought us both a 15 dollar metal magnetic case from Wal-Mart as a temporary case until the cases come in that I ordered, and that was the issue the whole time! We would have numerous dropped calls, and only 1 or 2 bars in areas where we had 4G LTE before. If you have a case on your phone that is metal, or magnetic, take the case off and try that. Apparently, those types of cases absolutely KILL the reception. Good luck to all!

I just fixed this same issue after days of it occurring on and off. Below is a link with various possible fixes but the one that absolutely works and worked for me was to simply turn off the phone, and then removing SIM card. Making sure it was placed correctly (I also wiped a little as an added precaution) then re inserted the sim, powered back on and the issue was fixed permanently.

I have the iPhone 11 Pro Max 256 GB in Colombia using Movistar. Similar issue, I tried everything suggested around the web: network settings reset, phone reset, changing from regular SIM to eSIM, going on beta then going back to a regular release and so on. Nothing seemed to work.

From what I could gather the issue occurs more often when you enter a zone with low signal strength, the phone then would drop signal entirely, not being able to recover by itself, making me miss important calls, messages, notifications and so on for whatever time it was off (sometimes I would notice minutes or hours later), what would fix the issue was putting the phone into airplane mode then switching it back or a simple reboot, only then I would get all the missed calls and messages notifications.

I decided to try my luck once again before scheduling a support appointment with apple resellers in my area, so I re-enrolled into beta, to my surprise there was a new version iOS 13.4, installed it a few days ago, and boy, oh boy, I haven't seen the issue occur since then, keep in mind this usually happened around my house all the time, not some random place I rarely visit.

Hopefully this means apple is actively looking into this problem and trying to address it properly.

I wish this information can help some of you folks with a similar issue.

Regards.

Having Apple Care or not is irrelevant, all iPhone 11 Pro Max are still covered by regular warranty, also read different post from people in this same thread where they explain how taking the phones to Apple Service didn’t help at all, not even when they got a new replacement.

The issue is most likely firmware/software related to the “new” Intel network chipsets. Which is why I suggested updating to beta 13.4+, this is something that apparently fixed my issue (similar to yours), not something I suggested randomly out of the blue.

Of course feel free to go down the road you choose, I was merely providing yet another option.

My iphone 11 Pro Max has terrible signal strengths at my home and other places where previous phones have been fine. 1 or 2 bars max with poor call quality. Tried everything I could find for fixes, nothing worked, until I changed the network setting to 3G. Signal strength now 4 bars. Seems crazy to have top end phone to use 3G but at least I can take calls now.

I hope you guys realized that this isn’t a carrier issue. This is the antenna bands that aren’t either strong enough, properly seated into the phone, or it’s the antennas not receiving the signal to send a call. Or quite possibly, the software that is bugging the antennas not to properly work. I’ve had a few people come into AT&T store with the same issues, but our towers are functioning properly around here. If it’s happening in multiple different countries, then it is a manufacturing error.
