iPhone 11 Pro Max 4G LTE Signal Issue

The new iPhone 11 Pro Max loses 4G signal from time to time (every a few minutes) when the Wi-Fi is off or no valid Wi-Fi hot spot is nearby.

Wi-Fi is off: The 4G signal drops to null in a sudden, and restores to full (4 bars) in 2-3 seconds. This happens regularly.

Wi-Fi is connected: The bars are steady - stay at 4 all the time.

I have tried:

  1. Disable Auto Network Selection
  2. Reset Network Settings
  3. Reset All Settings
  4. Reset All Content and Settings

None of them shows promising improvement.

I have connectivity issues too with my 11 pro max. I live in an area with spotty connection but it’s much worse with the new phone versus my old XS Max. Upgrading to 13.1 did not help. Switched the SIM back to my old phone and it works just fine. Super frustrating.

I have had an xs max since October of 2018, so right at a year. Had all the problems discussed ever since buying it.

It's definitely (atleast partially) software related because back in the spring apple released an update that fixed it and was even part of the update description.

I went on to ios13 beta in the summer and the problem returned but it was only like once every 7-10 days. When the official ios13 came out and I switched it got tons worse and would happen 3-4 times every single day.

There is a work around though, if you turn of volte the problem ceases but it's a huge inconvenience as I use my phone for work and often need to talk on phone while also using data to lookup stuff.

I've talked with Apple recently and they just try to gey me to talk with Verizon and talk about sim card issues but its not sim card related.

At the end of the day I paid $1500 for a piece of crap. Was going to try to convince apple to swap it out for the 11pro max but Serna it's having problems too. What a joke.

I’m having the same problems in Australia on Optus (e-sim) and Vodafone (physical sim). At first I was having phone calls when I could hear everything but the other person could hear nothing. Then I noticed the sudden drops on both sims from 4 bars to 1 or no bars, then back to 3 or 4 bars... it was very frustrating, and the worst thing was it was happening on both sims.

Then I started experiencing the 4 bars but no internet thing every 15 minutes or so, and was ready to throw the bloody thing at the wall (iPhone 11 Pro 256gb).

I took it in to show a “genius” and he just said it was the carrier’s fault... not the sort of amazing Apple customer service I’ve become accustomed to, but nevertheless, even though I had spoken to both carriers and been through their processes, I repeated some as per Apple’s request... reset network settings (didn’t help), backed up to Mac and iCloud, restored to factory settings, replaced voda sim, set up as new phone, setup Optus e-sim again, used the phone that way for a day (didn’t help), restored from iCloud, still having problems, so went back in a few days later, and demanded a new phone.

Sadly, the new phone has exactly the same problems! I’ve since done all the iOS updates (now on 13.1.3), but none of these have helped. I alternate my default data plan between Optus e-sim and Voda sim just in case that helps, but it doesn’t. They can’t both be having the exact same reception problems in the heart of Sydney, Australia, can they?

i’m guessing there’s a hardware issue that they are still trying to work out. I was starting to think maybe it was because I have two sims, or perhaps because I always have wifi calling turned on (Apple “Genius” suggested that?). Anyone else in the same boat, or are there lots of single sim users with problems?

*iPhone 11 Pro Max - Verizon

I've been having the same problems since I received my first phone. Took 3 hours to activate and I would lose signal at home and random places. VoLTE stops working every now and then during calls, even though VoLTE toggle is on. I went to Apple store to have phone replaced. The issue was not fixed. I’m having the same issues today. I have to turn the phone off and back on to regain signal at least once a day. This has to be a software issue. Please fix!

A lot of times I can get text, but internet is barely accessible at random times. I’ve called support and even got escalated support. They reset something on their end, it works for a few minutes, then it reverts right back to the issues. I have to connect to wifi to get it to work. Quite frustrating. Hope they fix this soon. The 13.1.3 updates didn’t fix the issue.

I have the iPhone 11 Pro 512GB with Verizon Wireless and cellular drops several times a day. I show four bars/LTE each time but cannot use my phone unless I reset/reboot. I've called Verizon Wireless and they've performed a network reset and I've also visited a Verizon Wireless store and received a new SIM but still no luck. Staff at Verizon Wireless told me that this is a common issue with the iPhone 11 so I'm hoping that a fix is in the works. Going to an Apple store today for more info.

Went to the Apple Store and had them run a diagnostic and they told me that there are no hardware issues. Did a complete reset using a recent iCloud backup. Still the same cellular issue. Went back to the Verizon Wireless store later in the afternoon in hopes to get a replacement unit. Was told by one of the staff that they're also having an issue with their iPhone 11 (256GB) with cellular dropping. Got a new SIM -- second one so far -- but cellular dropped again today. Was told that perhaps this will be addressed when iOS 13.2 is pushed but based on recent comments, that's not the case. Will likely go back to the Apple Store and request a replacement unit.

As I stated ealier, my solution was to return my iPhone 11 pro max 256g to T-mobile, and buy an UNLOCKED version of the same phone from Best Buy. Popped the same old T-mobile SIM into the replacement phone(the same SIM that I used in an iphone 6, an iphone 7plus and a 5 year old android MotoX). NO ISSUES. The replacement phone works perfectly. Anyone who reads this thread, seeing complaints from around the world, regardless of carrier or iOS version, cannot help but conclude this is an Apple issue. I think it is a hardware issued related to a few defective Intel modems. Apple has yet to step up and admit there is a problem. In my opinion it is inexcusable.
