Voice memo stuck downloading

I just got my new iPhone 11 pro max and downloaded my backup from the cloud. Well most of my voice memos came through but the most recent ones are stuck saying downloading and have been for hours with no progress. How to I force them to finish downloading?

i have the same problem after purchasing iPhone 11 Pro Max. Then they all disappeared. However, I could see them on my older devices and when I do a recording on the new one, it shows up everywhere. Apple needs to fix this, ASAP.

Solution found by accident:

  1. I deleted the Voice App and Reinstalled It.
  2. Accept the Terms again and it should show downloading again.
  3. Press the record button, record for a few seconds and stop.
  4. Wait a second and all your recording should be there like normal.

* I was on WiFi when doing all of this. And I also notice that my voice recordings was showing 4 gigs of storage space before I proceeded. It seems they were downloaded but couldn’t be recognised. Hope this works for everyone.

To my understanding, "some older" Apple products does not "continuous sync" with iCloud. I have an MacBook Pro late 2009 (OS X El Capitan) which does not sync (bad apple). They only app that still syncs is my iMessages and Notes (only for various reason).

In search for a solution for my previous issue, I've came across articles that stated there are certain recovery software that reads and extracts iCloud backup information. If you take this route, keep in mind that third-party software "may" come with certain risks (i.e. viruses, bloatware, adware, etc.) however, they also are some of the best solutions to specific problems. Due diligence is needed here. I cannot recommend any software due to I have not used any of my own. This will be a journey for you and please update "US" (this community) of your success.

Thanks, Looking forward for an update. :)

that doesn't mean SOL. they have a record of under promising and over delivering, for the most part. and they want people to like their products, so they actually do things that make that happen. They don't get everything, but this is a huge problem affecting the thing they advertised. They surely will fix such a crippling bug. This isn't annoying, but critical.

it just means massive inconvenience for you and others. maybe we should keep backups of everything we trust Apple with. that's the takeaway i'm focusing on

Peace and Greetings,

To my understanding, all memos are backed up into your iCloud, especially if you have more than one apple device (i.e. ipdad, macbook) under the same account they should be sync. Please make sure that your iOS device is has the current version.

I transition from an iPhone 5se to iPhone 11 Max Pro and it the voice memo problem was my as well. However, after completing the following steps in order all memos returned. Previous people have also confirmed the this solution has worked. If you look through the tread (starting on page 2) you'll see similar solutions. I went into details for a more rigorous way to retrieve memos from a backup too (starting on page 3).

Please confirmed you followed all the directions. If Apple patch this fix, that would be interesting Hope this gives more clarity.

Yes there backed up but once deleted like now how do I get them back? Erase my entire phone then restore from backup? I just did that last night actually at the direction of AppleCare to try to get my memos back that as you prob know didn’t work. I’m just getting tired of deleting my entire phone then restoring from backup. Shouldn’t have to do that to get my memos transferred from my iPhone 10s max to my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Obviously apple hasn’t addressed this issue. I’ve called apple three times all three suggestions haven’t worked.

Yes Shonejin I’m tight there with you! I lost all kinds of voice memos from when my kids were little things that can never be replaced. Think all in all I lost about 40-50 memos. When I call customer service they basically walk me through different steps with the final step deleting and backing up everything on my phone which never works I’ve done it multiple times. So disappointed this is inexcusable in my opinion!
