Optimised battery charging - not working?
Hi I have a new iPhone 11, and I notice my iPhone over the last 2 nights goes to 100 percent in the middle of the night. So I presume it’s not work despite settings?

Apple just released a note with the solution to our issue !

If Optimized Battery Charging doesn't activate
Optimized charging is designed to engage only in locations where you spend the most time, such as your home and place of work. The feature doesn't engage when your usage habits are more variable, such as when you travel. Because of this, some location settings must be enabled for Optimized Battery Charging to activate. None of the location information used for this feature is sent to Apple.
Here are a list of settings that must be enabled:
hope that can helps
So should all of us now just bug off this chap to get this working?
I've already given up on this feature on my current iPhone. I just hope that it will work with next new iPhone I get.
Maybe the next update will get it on track
Thank you. I figured it was sensitive that way. Will give your suggestion a try
Mine just arbitrarily stopped working; had been fine, nothing in my routine changed...and for the past month, doesn't work at all.
mine is on but it neves shows at what time my iphone is gonna full charge.
Can you help me with that
Optimised charging not work
it has never showed at 80 infact never at any percentage till now
Thanks for the reply. I’m sure it’s my increased usage/charging
This still has not worked yet. Completely routine with putting on wireless charger at night and taking off. At least I would think plus or minus 30 minutes is close enough. I’ve had this 11pro about 3 months now.
Since I want to maximize battery longevity, I guess I will just start charging on quick charger in morning. I don’t need more than 75% to get through the day. I’ll wait until there is an official announcement from Apple that optimized battery charging is fixed before I try again.

No, it’s just a lazy response, which tends to be the case, it’s like this every time someone has an issue, tech support goes “Can you do all these thing’s you’ve already tried that didn’t fix it again”.
The reason tech support does that is because people say, "I've done everything and it didn't work." But, when the tech support person says, "Did you do A?" The person says, "Well, no, not that but I did everything." "Did you do B?" "Well, not exactly....". I did tech support for years and very often, going through the carefully designed list picks this up even when people said the "did everything". And, having spent a lot of time on these forums, a question like, "Did you turn on the setting?" is neither stupid nor lazy. It's often the solution.
I find it hard to believe that Apple would go to the trouble of adding this feature if it was just a gimmick.
There are plenty of studies saying that leaving batteries at >80% or <20% for long periods will reduce their life over time.
I used to keep my phone on charge all day when I was at my desk, and usually had to replace the battery after 12-18 months. Since I stopped doing this, my battery health seems to stay higher for longer.
If people have an irregular pattern of use, this is completely understandable. But this not the case for many people, such as myself, who are pretty consistent with a charging schedule and have not seen any optimizations.
If it's plugged in and not at full charge the current from the mains goes to the battery and the phone, so it slows the charging. If an app that is running draws a lot of power and the charger cannot supply enough energy it will actually discharge the battery even though it is plugged in. For example, in my car if I plug the phone into the car's USB port, which can only supply 0.5 amps, and I use the car's navigation app (which uses the phone's cellular data) the battery actually goes down.
This gimmick does NOT work. Spin it however you want, it is a feature that is completely useless like much of the other software on the iPhone that doesn’t work. Apple have a terrible track record for releasing flat out garbage applications that never really do want Apple spin in the conference. Has anyone had the notification pop up on their phone to say this feature is even working?
So I did notice this morning that after just over 2 weeks of not doing anything, my XS Max did appear to pause during charging last night, but, it only paused for about 1 hour and then carried on charging, reaching full charge at 2am - I have never taken it off charge before about 6.15am (very occasionally 5am but the last time I did that was over a month ago).
