Hi I have a new iPhone 11, and I notice my iPhone over the last 2 nights goes to 100 percent in the middle of the night. So I presume it’s not work despite settings?

Optimized charging is designed to engage only in locations where you spend the most time, such as your home and place of work. The feature doesn't engage when your usage habits are more variable, such as when you travel. Because of this, some location settings must be enabled for Optimized Battery Charging to activate. None of the location information used for this feature is sent to Apple.
Here are a list of settings that must be enabled:

I always charge my phone at night however that function is not working at all!
My iPhone 8 does the same thing.
That doesn’t work for me, unfortunately. I’ve had it off for two days, then turned it back on and it still won’t kick in.
I have the same issue with my iPhone XS with iOS 13.3
For me that finally worked after the second night, for the first time since the release of iOS 13.
That note from apple did fix that issue !

I agree 100% - the easiest and most reliable way would be to use the time for when the alarm clock is set for. Based on that, the iPhone can charge from 80% to 100% just before the alarm goes off.
Last night was my second night where my battery thing worked. I didn’t get a notification but i know the optimize battery thing worked based on the graph.
I have significant location always on and it doesn’t work for me. Negligible effect on battery.
Do you also have “systems customization” on too?
Yes all location settings on (toggled on and off as well). Battery Optimisation has never worked for me iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Do You think that putting the phone in the flying mode can influence the process?
Well I checked and flying mode doesn’t turn off the location. At least it is checked on in settings.
Mine works only sporadically. No consistency even though I go to sleep/wake up about the same time. I’ve given up with it. Very frustrating.
