Optimised battery charging - not working?
Hi I have a new iPhone 11, and I notice my iPhone over the last 2 nights goes to 100 percent in the middle of the night. So I presume it’s not work despite settings?

Apple just released a note with the solution to our issue !
Quote :
If Optimized Battery Charging doesn't activate
Optimized charging is designed to engage only in locations where you spend the most time, such as your home and place of work. The feature doesn't engage when your usage habits are more variable, such as when you travel. Because of this, some location settings must be enabled for Optimized Battery Charging to activate. None of the location information used for this feature is sent to Apple.
Here are a list of settings that must be enabled:
hope that can helps
I also would like to have the ability to control this in another way and more manually.
I suspect that Apple made it the #1 priority here that under no circumstances should people end up picking up their phone intending for it to be fully charged, and it's only on 80%.
Therefore they have erred on the side of "fail safe" - if there is any doubt whatsoever about the situation, charge immediately to 100%.
Their reasoning will probably be that they will get a lot less complaints of the kind on this thread from most users, than they will get if users are finding that their phone is not fully charged when they expected it to be.
I hear ya same here I just gave up on it. I love technology and new things it intrigues me but this on definitely is frustrating. Think I’ll wait till the software gets better to worry about it. Thanks for the response!
Mine was working finally; sometimes wouldn't work for a few days then would kick in again. Update: During the last 3 months of this quarantine, it has not worked at all. I have kept to a very regular sleep/wake schedule & while I guess it had to recalibrate itself maybe due to location mostly in one place, it has not worked at all. Not sure if anyone else is finding this? The only thing I can think of (and yes, I've toggled on/off for a day, etc.) is that working from home & constantly using, and thus recharging the phone during the day a few times, has kept it from working. Anyone else?
I do get up & go to bed on a schedule. As far as not charging during the day, that's pretty impossible as I'm working from home & don't have a regular home phone to use. I just started charging it to almost 100% before bed instead of leaving it plugged in all night without that feature working. Hopefully when this is over (will it ever be!!??), it'll kick in again. Thanks for the response.
Except the graph shows when it gets to 100% - unless of course the graph isn't correct with optimized charging.
Same problem here. I’ve set alarms, used wireless and cable, nothing works. Straight to 100% by midnight.
Same story here. I have got an iPhone X and an iPhone 7 - optimised charging working fine on the 7 but not on the X.
This isn’t tech support. We are all volunteers that don’t work for Apple and are users just like yourself.
I have a XS Max and have the same problem.
It worked one time, but after that it didn’t work. Have flipped the switch for enabling the feature and restarted the phone.
You may be on to something here. My phone reports my battery health as 99%.
Yup doesn't work. Never has since i got the iphone 11.
Not working for me either. Now 2 month old iPhone that cost $1100 has battery health dropping like a stone. Hasn’t worked, no notifications. Why am I not surprised at all.
Same here i have an iPhone 7 for a week was working and now has stopped
Same here - I plug in the charger at about 10 PM every night and by midnight, it's registering as fully charged.
Same here, not working .
