Bluetooth Stuttering Issues | iPhone 11 Pro Max | iOS 13

My audio (from all apps) playback on Bluetooth devices is stuttering making it sound kinda like static. Currently on iPhone 11 Pro Max, iOS 13. My prior iPhone XS Max on iOS 13 worked perfectly. So it's either the iPhone 11 Pro Max or iOS 13 on it in particular. Anybody else experiencing the same issues? Thanks!

Yes, confirmed, turning off Hey Siri makes the crackling problem go away for me, after the first couple of seconds at least. I do still have random Bluetooth connection partial or full failures in the car however. I think that is connected to the general BT issues with iPhone 11, but also separate from the crackling problem. Given how slow/useless Siri is with this new phone it isn't too much of a loss to have to turn off the Hey Siri function. But yeah, they were able to make those two co-existing in all previous phones (since Hey Siri was introduced) so you'd hope they can fix this issue also.

My last resort at this point after years of this same issue over and over is to completely wipe my phone and set up as a new phone and restore each item individually from the iCloud like my photos and keychain passwords. The only downside of this is having to take screenshots of every single app on my phone from my settings screen so I have a list of apps to download manually should this actually fix the underlying issue. Wish me luck!

Thank you so much for the Logitech advice. I have the same Logitech unit and have experienced years of audio stuttering to my Bose speakers, particularly at a distance from that device.....worse in the yard vs in the house. Once I unplugged power to the Logitech device, the audio stuttering completely stopped. I imagine others on this thread have a rogue Bluetooth device causing similar issues.

Same. iPhone 11 Pro. Haven’t tried disabling Hey Siri yet, but have noticed that Hey Siri is half broken compared to my XS and all phones prior (like super slow to hear me, and even slower to do anything once it has heard my command). They really can’t do stable releases any more can they (top few most valuable companies in the world etc etc). And we’re a good few patch versions in now...

I called Apple support on Saturday from my vehicle, the specialist was unaware of the issue and took a report. The static or noise was happening during the apple call and he kept having to repeat himself because I couldn't hear him. He said was call was clear on his side to it must have something to do with the hearing side of the bluetooth. He mentioned that it could be cell to cell transfer but I told him I am standing still at this time. He also told me they would replace my phone just to rule this out. I would suggest that everyone call Apple and get a report logged with a case number

I wonder if maybe the other connections are causing a problem and since Apple can’t figure it out it’ll be up to us to help troubleshoot it. Can someone with more time can see if shutting off WiFi or even cellular service affects the stutter at all starting there seems like a good choice. Another question for all of you with the problem I have an Apple Watch it might be a stretch but wondering if people without also having the same issue.

I have this same problem on an iphone 6S (I know, but its a company phone). It connects to things but won't play. Drops calls, and skips in and out of connection to ANYTHING bluetooth. I have tried Airpods (1), car (Volvo V40) and MiniJambox speakers, only the speakers maintain any sense of a connection and weirdly the issue gets worse when you move it more than 6 inches away from them (drops connection and blanks out sound for a second or so). Given BT range is 33 feet, we have a serious BT problem here. Seems Apple have know about this for about 6 months now, yet the problem persists, very poor. Done all the rebooting, switching WI-Fi on and off, updating to 13.3.1.....nothing makes a blind bit of difference. Very frustrated!

I have experienced the stuttering as well. For me, it sounds like the Bluetooth connected device is getting to the point of dropping the connection due to becoming out of range. This happens on all of my Bluetooth headphones, and Airpods. More so when i lock the phone screen, or if i have an incoming text message, or phone call.

When listening to audio from any audio related app in my Honda through Apple Carplay, I get what sounds like a cd skip, the screen goes blank, turns back on and the music continues. I have verified that the the cars infotainment unit is not rebooting, because when listening to Sirius XM the music is fine, until Waze provides a voice prompt that also sounds like a cd skip, and the music in the background are perfectly fine.

I find this happens anytime a notification comes in when I am on a call with bluetooth. The headset gets all garbly and in order to stop it you have to disconnect bluetooth and wait 5 minutes before turning it on again. It also happens about 1-hour into each call without notifications - EVERY SINGLE BLUETOOTH HEADSET.

I am not going to be happy to turn off Hey Siri - I use it all the time.

This is a real issue that needs to be addressed by apple please.

I’ve been having stuttering/static bluetooth connections for about 2 months now and have tried nearly everything short of a full factory reset which I plan on doing today and it’s definitely the phone. All audio connection is static on every Bluetooth device I own from Sony headphones, AirPods, and the UE Boom speakers.... nothing is fixing it, not even the turning off hey siri

I'm now in contact with a senior supervisor. Their recommendation was to revert my phone to factory settings via connecting to my itunes app on my mac then restore via my icloud. that was going to be my last ditch effort to fix my phone. I've done it and the stuttering is still happening... Some of my apps wouldn't even open or connect to their servers either... it's like it got even worse! i did have my company once have network access to it to basically guarantee that if i work on my phone to get access to emails that it would always be protected with intense security and encryption. I was thinking that that may have affected the bluetooth abilities but now that's been completely uninstalled... the bluetooth connection is still stuttering :( also got an analysis check with apple customer service and the bluetooth sensors are apparently still functional and fine... I think my next step will be to try to factory reset but only restore primary icloud info but no apps or app data. Basically bring it to the barebones of iphone functionality.... i have another call with the senior supervisor today. Fingers crossed.

I fixed my issue by buying a set of Huawei Freebuds 3. Fixed it right up, no stuttering or anything. This is the realty Apple, if you can't provide the service or the reliability, then no-one is going to stay loyal and pay your premium. Frankly, the time this issue has been around and the heartache its caused your loyal customer base, you should be ashamed.

I am now on the new phone that they sent me and so far I haven’t been able to replicate the stuttering. But I didn’t restore all

of my information from before this all happened and honestly I’m kinda scared to try it since I think apple care coverage only allows one replacement? Given that this issue has been capable to follow new devices, I’m almost wondering if there’s a compatibility issue in the latest update that didn’t keep the syncing fluid with old iCloud data and it effects the Bluetooth connection this way potentially. I just really hope this doesn’t arise in my phone again but it is only day 1 with the new phone.

Going back to the previous discussion I participated in on this which had literally thousands of people saying they had this issue, it looks like it's been affecting me since the iOS 11.3 update. I have went through an iPhone 7 Plus, two 8+ handsets and 2 iPhone X devices and now an iPhone 11 Pro Max and this issue has followed me through all of these devices. I go through months at a time with no issue whatsoever then all of a sudden it just starts up out of nowhere. It is either an iCloud backup issue or it's some device at my house interfering with it because if I recall correctly, this is never an issue when I am away from home. The biggest thing that annoys me about that theory though is why it only affects my phone and not any other iDevice in my house! So annoying. Don't expect Apple to do anything about it because this issue has been running for years.
