I tried everything I could in the book to resolve the problem with the Apple email app. I then decided to install the Outlook for iOS App. After configuring Outlook, it works like a champ!

I made this decision to go with Microsoft’s email App after discovering that one of Apple’s software engineers admitted that iOS and the built in Apps were released with a lot of bugs. It seems that Apple solution is to release a “new” iOS (14.x) next year using an improved testing techniques. As a retired software engineer and software development manager, I completely understand when a software development program is “in the ditch.”

And, when I had a problem setting up my IMAP Port addresses, the Microsoft support folks actually responded in a timely manner.

I understand completely. I am a retired software development engineering Manager for a fortune 100 company. Before I was a manager,I was a hardware and software engineer specializing in telecommunications including email server and client. I just don’t understand why the Apple Developers don’t seem to understand how to fix the problem!

Anyway, the solution I found for my iPad was to use the Microsoft Outlook App! It has a different user interface than the Apple Email App, but it works flawlessly for managing email folders using the IMAP Protocol. My recommendation is to give it a try.

Just an update...I uninstalled Mail and removed my email account, then installed Outlook and reestablished my account which worked just fine. Got curious about Mail (always liked it for years) and reinstalled it about two weeks ago. The new installation of Mail has worked fine for me. Got all my folders back and all the mail in them has been downloaded. This worked on my iPhone 11 Pro Max and my iPad Pro both running iOS 13.3. Have no idea why this fixed it for me as there have been no updates to either device since 13.3.

I have the exact same problem on 13.2.3 but with gmail accounts. I have tried everything and the only thing that seams to solve the issue (temporarily unfortunately) is to completely uninstall the app from the iPhone then reinstall it. Then in like 2 days it will reappear. This is why until Apple fix it I have switched to Outlook for iOS and everything is working flawlessly.

Answering both Fluffy863 and EmzPasha here… yes, there is a major bug with moving emails to folders in iCloud. In my case, I would say that about a third of the emails moved to folders on my Mac Pro download correctly on both my iPhone XS Max and my iPad Pro. A third. And it appears to be almost random.

I organize all my incoming emails on my Mac Pro into folders in a neat fashion. I've tried to move those folders to iCloud - the folders appear but there is no was to download a majority of the emails. Very frustrating indeed. I've tried one folder at a time, one email at a time, renaming folders, all the tricks of the trade, to no avail.

BTW all those emails ARE in iCloud in their entirety as I can see them on any Mac I use. I don't know if there is a workaround. I doubt it, but I will keep hammering at this issue.

It's a fact that Mail as always been plagued with bugs, even on Mac OS (less so on Mac OS nowadays though).
