my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

Older smartphones had more scratch resistant, but more brittle glass.
Since people don't like paying $300 to replace their glass when dropping their phone a foot, cell phone makers overall (not just Apple) moved to formulas that are more shatter-resistant but are slightly more scratch prone.
This issue is solved with a $20 screen protector; you can't apply something for $20 that will stop your screen from shattering in a fall.
..so does anyone have any solutions yet? I know AppleCare won’t cover this because its considered a “cosmetic” damage. I bought it online and I’m not even sure if they’ll replace it. Can’t believe i already have a large gash after a week of using it, guess the “toughest screen” advertisement was a scam. All that babying for nothing. And unfortunately, I’m not near an Apple store either to seek fac-to-face assistance. Disappointed with Apple.
Just perfect. Buy a phone for $ 1000 and then buy glass on it right away so that it does not scratch. So maybe then it is not worth getting out of the box? Let yourself lie beautiful in the box, open, admire, close.
Same i just noticed horrible scratching on the side of the phone and then several more small, yet clearly visible scratches EVERYWHERE. I have not dropped this phone ever, only ever carried it in my pocket. Wtf are we supposed to do?
You'd have to go back to September/October posts from years back. If you want to search that far back, you'll find them. I'm not doing the research for you, but I've been on this forum for just about every new iPhone launch since the dawn of this forum.
it makes no sense... i had my phone for slightly more than 24 hours and it looks worse than my iphone 8 ive had for 2 years... case or not it shouldn’t be happening especially to this degree... if everyone is saying the same thing too that makes it even worse smh
I’m having the same issue!!! I have an otterbox case and only keep me iPhone in my pocket nothing else like change or keys! Apple has to do something about this. It has more scratches than my Xs Max I dropped on the sidewalk without a case!
Okay... I literally got my iPhone 11 yesterday in the mail and I put it in my cars cup holder briefly while I was driving and I pulled it out of the cup holder and low and behold the front screen now has a giant scratch.. not deep but it is noticeable on the LCD screen!! Wtf??? Toughest glass ever?? My iPhone 8 had zero scratches and I did this all the time with that model. There’s something not right here guys.. phones should be just fine to throw in a cup holder or a pocket with keys and not come out with gashes to the front screen.
So you're saying they took a step forward in cracks due to impact, but somehow managed to simultaneously take 3 steps back in scratch resistance?
Doesn't make sense on the face of it.
In my case the scratch/crack seemed to appear out of nowhere.
I'm almost worried that I'll wake up in the morning and it'll be gone.

Well said... some idiots here think that we don’t know how to use our phones/care for it or that we don’t know that glass scratches. We here are commenting with years of experience in using Apple products. This is an issue and Apple should fix this as soon as possible.
I have the same issues as well. From out of nowhere the screen has scratches and I just got my iphone and I am very keen on where do I place my phone and don't put other stuff in my pocket with my iphone. Is there answer or solution from Apple? Never experienced this with my other Iphone's. Seems like this is 'softer' type of glass, strange..
Found same rounded scratch on 5 day of usage, no drops, no contacts. Even more - the day before I don't even use phone at all. Called to apple support, walk to local repair/support shop - got rejected as "No warranty case"
I'm also having this problem on my new iPhone 11 Pro. I've had it for roughly 2 weeks. It only ever goes in my pocket or on a wireless charger. I already have scratches on the display that didn't show up on my last iPhone X until after 2 years of use.
It's the conversation which is pointless. I offer advice which makes sense given the situation. Either take the advice or don't. Your choice. But continuing to complain to other users is simply a waste of time. You will get NO resolution from whining about something no one here can solve for you.

These posts are most certainly "reports".
They're reports to the community, an exchange of experiences that can validate or repudiate one's own experience.
In fact this route is more direct than talking to some "genius" at the Apple store.
T. Cook will hear about the news stories way before he hears about some guy who came in with a scratched screen.
