Change the voice. The Uh-Huh seems to be associated with the South American Female voice option.
For instance the American Male has proper, respectful, intelligent sounding replies. I’m sure others do as well, you’d just have to try out different ones.
Or just don't wait between "Hey, Siri" and your question. Siri only says that if you pause. So, no pause, no uh-huh.
I did that too I changed it to a British accent and it gave me the chime at first and I was happy and satisfied with that but then I woke up the next day and said “hey Siri” (about to ask for the weather) and in her British accent she said “hmm?” I immediately got aggravated and said Nevermind then manually looked at the weather.

This is still a major issue for me!!! Apple help… I’m thinking of going to Android. I tried turning Siri off but I do like the virtual assistant. I can’t handle language like that for many reasons.
You know what I find rude? People apparently not bothering to read previous posts, especially the ones that explain Apple doesn't read here. Use the previously provided feedback link to let Apple know your thoughts.
Meanwhile, either don't use Siri or use it in the way Apple designed it to be used. When you do that, you never need hear "Uh huh".
This thread was started nearly 3 years ago with the same issue that I posted about yesterday. If you don’t find the conversation or content useful I can understand that. It’s not for everyone. I feel it’s highly rude to make a person feel bad for stating their shared relationship to the original purpose of this thread. Also I’d appreciate it if anyone that wants to be condescending would do it elsewhere since this is a public forum used to connect to people that have like minds and are looking for solutions. Not speaking to anyone particularly but in general people just want to share and be heard without scrutiny. Thank you to anyone who has offered useful information!! Your words have not gone unnoticed.

This is a technical support forum. If you ask a question, people will tell you the answer. Sometimes, you won't like the answer. Sometimes, you won't like being told that what you want isn't possible. Those are just the facts, though.
It is considered rude to respond that way. It isn’t proper English. It is very annoying. I get very agitated when Siri responds that way.
I think this should be reverted back to “Yes” or “How can I help you?”. It sounds more appropriate. This casual/rude/inappropriate response or whatever you call this attitude, should be optional.
My only option seems to disable Siri.

To best of my knowledge, Siri never responded with "Yes?" (also kind of rude) or "How can I help you?". On older, slower devices, there was a beep to let you know that Siri was awaiting input. If a human made a beep sound out me when I asked them a question, I'd find that disconcerting. Which points out that "rudeness" is highly contextual.
My only option seems to disable Siri.
That is one of your options. Seems a bit cutting your nose off to spite your face but you do you.
The beep or ding sound sounded more polite? Because as Idris correctly pointed out that is what Siri used to do. I find it rude when people call my name without anything else and then they ask, "how is the weather outside?" Why not just ask, "Dave, how is the weather outside", which is much more polite.
This assumes that Dave is already attentive or you have his attention to some extent.
So with Siri’s you need to say “Hey Siri” to get Siri’s attention and the initial response from Siri let’s you know that you have its attention, then your question follows. This is natural.
Siri’s “ IOS” response is rude and EXTREMELY RUDE in some cultures. This should just be made customizable.
The Siri response on my MacBook Pro isn’t “rude”. Why can’t my iPhone behave that way?

That's not the way Apple has designed it. Try using it the way Apple intended while you're waiting to see if they decide to have it. You may be surprised how well it works.

If you check a few previous post you can see links to other places where you can possibly get real support for this issue and voice your opinion to someone with empathy and perhaps the power to impact change.
Yes, I'm well aware of that. I'm the person who keeps posting the feedback link. Did you submit feedback?
Waiting for a response has worked well on previous iOS rollouts
It worked (and still does work, I believe) that way on older phones with slower processors.
Finding a response that doesn’t annoy or offend anyone is something I’m sure the engineers responsible for this particular function would welcome and appreciate.
It would also, of course, be completely impossible to avoid offending or annoying everyone.
Sorry you got roped into this response that was meant for another person which I’m sure you’re aware of since you didn’t post any of the questions I was responding too.
Thank you for posting links in this support chat!! It’s what it’s made for in my opinion.
FYI “finding a response that doesn’t annoy or offend anyone” is by method the goal, although in many cases unachievable the method brings us as close as we can come. So the least amount of unhappy customers is what is meant but the goal is to have 0 unhappy customers if possible.

No worries.

But I'm not sure it's Apple's goal. If it were, they would have changed this long ago, I'm sure.
I also do not like this new Siri response. It feels like she is sleeping and don’t want to be bothered by my request. Almost feel she does not care.
If she is supposed to be an “assistant” she should respond to your command more politely and not just “hummm”. Almost like “what do you want?”
Not cool. I did not like it. At least we should be able to choose how she responds to our command.
Hello ~ Siri is not a person and cannot care, sleep or be bothered. If you say “ Hey Siri, what time is it?” with no pause Siri will not say “Hmmmm.” Siri will answer with the correct answer. Don’t pause and you will not hear the “hmmmmm.” Also to inform Apple of your opinion take a look here:

It’s just a poorly designed user interface and frankly I’m surprised that with so many unhappy users that Apple isn’t doing something to be more responsive to its customers’ concerns.
"Poorly designed" is your opinion. Have you told Apple that?
Honestly, it doesn't seem to bother most people. There are relatively few posts about it. And some of us like it.
