Siri says uhhuh instead of yes

What is this new response I get when I say Siri? she says uhhuh instead of yes? I have iPhone 11 Pro Max I really don’t like response and want to change it.

For instance the American Male has proper, respectful, intelligent sounding replies. I’m sure others do as well, you’d just have to try out different ones.

Or just don't wait between "Hey, Siri" and your question. Siri only says that if you pause. So, no pause, no uh-huh.

It seems like Siri used to respond in a variety of ways. Sometimes “Yes, <name>” or “How can I help you?” I would be ok with “Uh huh” if it was part of a random selection of responses, just don’t like hearing it every time. I try not to pause in between now, but it’s a hard habit to break. I just don’t understand why Apple would take functionality away after a software upgrade.

Siri used to beep after you said "Hey, Siri...". You had to wait until the beep or Siri wouldn't recognize what you said. I believe it still does that on older phones with less powerful processors. However, newer phones have powerful enough processors that there's not need to wait.
