Siri says uhhuh instead of yes
What is this new response I get when I say Siri? she says uhhuh instead of yes? I have iPhone 11 Pro Max I really don’t like response and want to change it.

Change the voice. The Uh-Huh seems to be associated with the South American Female voice option.
For instance the American Male has proper, respectful, intelligent sounding replies. I’m sure others do as well, you’d just have to try out different ones.
Or just don't wait between "Hey, Siri" and your question. Siri only says that if you pause. So, no pause, no uh-huh.

If we can afford an iphone we can likely speak using without using slang terminology. It’s becoming offensive enough to make me look at my options
If you don't leave a pause between "Hey, Siri..... " and your questions, you'll never hear it.
Hello ~This has turned out to be one of my pet peeves now…maybe if we leave enough feedback they will do something about it. It drives me to distraction and it is indeed aggravating.

If you rudely just said someone’s name to a person and didn’t continue on, what would they say? So, be polite to Siri and don't leave a gap between "Hey, Siri..." and your request. It's very rude to just say "Hey, Marsbars" and then say nothing else.
But I still think this is the funniest thread in all of ASC🤣

I agree I am waiting to hear yes to make sure that Siri had heard me and not just talking to the Ghosts in the room
Well, Siri doesn't say "Yes" and there are no ghosts. So, either stop leaving the pause or learn to love "uh huh?".
sure you can speak without a pause and not hear “uh huh” but the fact it’s there and apple ignores the complaints about is not what I would expect from the company. Steve Hobs would fire whoever came it with it, must less let’s it continue.
Hello Again~ This is a technical forum for technical questions about all things Apple….anyone who remains within the rules can comment here.Your question has been asked and answered many times in this 34 page thread. Apple is not going to change this …so we as humans must adapt. It’s going to remain this way ….so don’t pause and Siri will not say UhHuhhhh…it is that simple. Don’t be so short with everyone….we are trying to help you.

If you give more emphasis to "Hey Siri" when pronouncing it, Siri will still answer "Yes", at least in most of the cases, if Siri is set to German language. BTW, no heels clicking added by Siri using the HomePods🙂
As far as I remember, Siri never responded "How can I help you", at least not on my HomePods in the last couple of years.
Using the Feedback Link is the only way to let Apple know about your thoughts related to this zeitgeist feature.
I totally understand what you mean. It’s extremely popular to wait for a response before diving into your question and some would even say it’s more polite. Waiting for a response has worked well on previous iOS rollouts, where you could make sure Siri is active and then proceed to ask questions without hearing “hmmm”. Using “hmm” is possibly a cultural or regional issue. Where I was raised we were taught that answering in that manner was rude and showed lack of class. Others were not raised believing that same idea. I don’t think Apple purposely intended it to annoy or offend anyone but this thread has definitely highlighted that many feel a negative way about this.
Although this community is labeled as a “support” group there hasn’t been much interaction with anyone that can actually help directly in this chat. If you check a few previous post you can see links to other places where you can possibly get real support for this issue and voice your opinion to someone with empathy and perhaps the power to impact change.
Apple intended to make this work comfortably for us humans. Finding a response that doesn’t annoy or offend anyone is something I’m sure the engineers responsible for this particular function would welcome and appreciate.

I also do not like this new Siri response. It feels like she is sleeping and don’t want to be bothered by my request. Almost feel she does not care.
It's not new. It's been the way it has worked since, at least the iPhone 11, possibly the iPhone X series. It is processor-dependent. The older phones take longer to respond so there is an indicator when they are ready for more input.
But you're right, Siri doesn't care about you at all.

My problem with “uh huh” is that you can’t hear it as well as “yes”. I call Siri a lot when I’m trying to find my phone!
So, say, "Hey, Siri, what time is it?" If in range, Siri will respond with something that's even easier to hear than "Yes?".

Siri doesn’t always hear, so in many cases I want a response prior to asking Siri to perform a task. Either way “uh huh” and “mm” are moronic responses and should changed.
Log feedback with Apple.
Repeat your command.
I always liked the uh-huh.

but it’s a hard habit to break.
Given your clear annoyance, I’d think the habit would be easier to break.
As for the difference in prompting, I suspect that’s due to local Siri processing on newer devices.
Log your feedback with Apple, as has been suggested.

No one over the age of 10 can think that this response is appropriate.
You would be wrong. I'm past 60 and I find it perfectly reasonable and appropriate that if I don't finish a sentence, Siri would gently encourage me to continue. Would it be more amusing if it said, "I'm waiting...."? Yes but one can't have everything.
Did you tell Apple that this is a source of such great stress to you? The feedback link has been given repeatedly. If enough people submit feedback, it's possible that Apple will make a change (I doubt it actually bothers enough people for it to get to that level though).
Did you ever find a solution? I can’t stand it either.
