No Siri audio over bluetooth

New iPhone 11 Pro Max - IOS 13.1.2 (updated today but issue was same in 13.1.1 ) - I have no siri audio over bluetooth devices. First noticed in my car when asking Siri questions (usually comes through car speakers) but when asked a question, remains completely silent but Siri animation is shown on iPhone and text is on screen (say weather etc.). Music and phone calls are ok but nothing from siri. So tested the same on Bose Mini II SoundLink - same issue - no Siri audio on speaker but does play on iPhone rather than remain silent. I noticed, whilst Siri is in action, the bluetooth icon in the bottom right of the screen, so I press this and it shows two Bose SoundLinks but as soon as I press the bluetooth icon and attempt to switch to speaker, Siri stops. Again, music and calls ok over the speaker. I've tried, unpair/pair, switch off phone, restore etc - same issue.

Just also tried my airpods - siri requests played on phone initially no through airpods. Made a phone call, came through on airpods then subsequent siri request came through on Airpods !

Some clearly not right with Bluetooth on either IOS 13 or iPhone 11 !

Have an iPhone X so going to set that up shortly and test that !

Yep - Same here. Just installed 13.3.1 and now I can hear Siri over my car speakers etc... as it had worked before. Mine is Iphone 11

Did not need to update my vehicle software etc... just needed 13.3.1

Hope it resolves all for you folks as well.

Over the past few days I have been fortunate to have a senior engineer working on the issue collecting information including blue tooth logs, etc and trying a bunch of options to see if we can get this to work. We did not BUT ... We did find one way to get audible feedback over the car's bluetooth. It's not hands free BUT it proves that audible feedback over bluetooth DOES work.

1) Setting / Siri & Search / Press Side Button For Siri

2) Settings / Accessibility / Siri / Make sure "Type to Siri" is off.

3) With your phone connected to your car's bluetooth ... use the right button to activate Siri and say something like "New Message" and you should get audible feedback.

I am not suggesting to use this in place of hands free, but just as a way to prove to apple that audible feedback DOES work just not when you say "Hey Siri" and are truly hands free

Another day, another update !

So I managed to update the working iPhone X from 12.4.1 to 13.1.2 and that WORKS !?! Siri though speakers of the car. So then I disconnected that from blueooth, reconnected the iPhone 11 Pro via bluetooth and asked Siri what the weather was like (she must be so sick of me asking that now!) and voila - out of the speakers Siri came !! I'm thinking WTF. After the 20 journey, I thought i'd ask about the weather again - back to normal - no sound from speakers, quiet Siri and response on the iPhone screen with answer. So did the same with steps - connected the iPhone X via bluetooth and that worked straight away again, as did a request from the iPhone 11 Pro and after a few minutes after asking again, same problem !! Fed up of it now - gone back to using a cable and Car Play !

Still doesn't work on my iPhone 11. It does work on my old iPhone 7 Plus that I updated to 13.2 and it works on my daughters new iPhone XR. I've been dealing with an top level technician and he's told me to wipe my phone and set it up as NEW to see if it works then. If it does, then I've lost everything on my phone, because I can't restore my backup. But if it doesn't fix it "after that then we would expect the resolution of the issue to come in the form of a future software update." Far from an acceptable solution in either case.

I'm amazed how many other users have this issue since I started this post.

This is NOT a car issue and you should no be fobbed off by Apple. My car is NEW and the software in it is up to date. All other iPhones with IOS 13+ work just fine - it is only the iPhone 11 Pro range that has this issue (not sure about 11 as don't have one to hand).

As above, log a bug report with Apple - https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html and link this post to it.

Hiya, yes , am making headway with Apple. Have had phone conversations we’re they’ve collected analytics on the phone and have uploaded video footage for them showing the problems in action. The more people that contact them about the issue, the faster the bug fix will be released. They’re definitely acknowledging it as a fault , so we’re getting somewhere

My phone came with 13.0 - I bought it early after release. Siri BT feedback worked; in fact everything worked perfectly - better than BT ever worked; It actually seemed that my phone was ignoring the car's crappy microphone, and was using its own mic when siri was activated (transcribed text messages were as accurate as without BT). Then things started to go downhill after some updates. At some point making calls was unbearable because of crackling, during the call (fixed in 13.3), but Siri audio feedback still worked with "hey siri". Then (for me) with 13.3, siri audio feedback stopped working. I have noticed (one of the posters mentions this) that if you hold down the side button to activate Siri, audio feedback works.

I've tried doing a master clear in my car's phone setup, so it completely resets all BT/phone settings from previous pairings.

This doesn't make a difference.

Your assumption about a2dp sounds quite plausible, and yes, I remember you could set these options, although I think it may be application specific? I remember you could set it both in google maps and waze.
