No Siri audio over bluetooth

New iPhone 11 Pro Max - IOS 13.1.2 (updated today but issue was same in 13.1.1 ) - I have no siri audio over bluetooth devices. First noticed in my car when asking Siri questions (usually comes through car speakers) but when asked a question, remains completely silent but Siri animation is shown on iPhone and text is on screen (say weather etc.). Music and phone calls are ok but nothing from siri. So tested the same on Bose Mini II SoundLink - same issue - no Siri audio on speaker but does play on iPhone rather than remain silent. I noticed, whilst Siri is in action, the bluetooth icon in the bottom right of the screen, so I press this and it shows two Bose SoundLinks but as soon as I press the bluetooth icon and attempt to switch to speaker, Siri stops. Again, music and calls ok over the speaker. I've tried, unpair/pair, switch off phone, restore etc - same issue.

Just also tried my airpods - siri requests played on phone initially no through airpods. Made a phone call, came through on airpods then subsequent siri request came through on Airpods !

Some clearly not right with Bluetooth on either IOS 13 or iPhone 11 !

Have an iPhone X so going to set that up shortly and test that !

An update ! I have discovered that if you say Hey Siri in the car, she will remain silent but the question will be answered on the iPhone screen. Bluetooth activates and the dash says In call. However, if you invoke Siri by pressing the side button and asking a question, Siri is heard over the car bluetooth. I have tested this numerous times and used exactly the same questions and everytime i press the side button, then ask the question, it works but invoking by saying Hey Siri does not.

I also updated to IOS 13.1.3 today and the issue remains.

So I contacted Apple because I too have the same problem. It seems like any phone before the new iPhone 11 will work just fine with Hey Siri.

I currently have a case open with Apple to get the problem resolved. I recommended anyone that is having this issue to also call into Apple because the more users that are having this issue the faster it will get fixed.

I have the exact same issue in my 2013 Volvo S60. I also noticed the bluetooth icon and my car has a duplicate bluetooth entry and behaves exactly as you described. I've already tried resetting my settings to no avail and then I did a backup and restore and that doesn't solve the issue. My wife's iPhone 11 behaves the same way in my car. Definitely a bug in iOS 13. Apple us suggesting try setting up my phone and a brand new device and starting over. Seems ridiculous to me.

Still doesn't work on my iPhone 11. It does work on my old iPhone 7 Plus that I updated to 13.2 and it works on my daughters new iPhone XR. I've been dealing with an top level technician and he's told me to wipe my phone and set it up as NEW to see if it works then. If it does, then I've lost everything on my phone, because I can't restore my backup. But if it doesn't fix it "after that then we would expect the resolution of the issue to come in the form of a future software update." Far from an acceptable solution in either case.

I have an XS and a Chevy Traverse on iOS13.1.2 and I am having similar issues. I think previous version it was doing exact same thing where Siri would show up like she's listening but no response or anything. I then updated to the 13.1.2 that I am on right now and now she will respond, but incorrectly. Example: I will say hey Siri send text to XXX. she responds by wanting to open the Messages window rather than asking what I would like to say. This is completely annoying! Updating to 13.2.2 right now to see if it helps, but I have no hope.

Adding my experience with this issue as well. No audio heard when using Hey Siri in car, can see phone connect and all, but silent all around.

Initiating Siri via side button does play audio over car BT, and phone calls working okay (*touch wood* haven't encountered call dropouts as experienced by others).

Pretty important as local laws forbid handling phone while driving so Hey Siri is a crucial feature to avoid fines as well as for safety.

I am having exactly the same issue. Worked fine with 8S on latest version but it's not working on 11pro on ISO 13.2. I've logged the bug report as recommended here.

There is one more thing I have noticed but I did not see anyone else report here is that when the phone is connected to the bluetooth unit in my Subaru Forester 2015 is that when someone calls me, the ring tone also has some weird echo to it. And the volume much lower than what it should be.

I have similar issue, if playing audio to an Anker SoundCore Sport Bluetooth Speaker after activating Siri the audio will not play again and have to disconnect and reconnect Bluetooth or power cycle the speaker.

Not sure if it is related but I have also had a long standing issue also when I plug in the wired lightning earbuds into my iPhone and hold the headset button to activate Siri the mic is not activated thus Siri says it cannot hear me (my phone is in my pocket), I have to unplug the earbuds and plug them in again then the mic begins working. Never had this problem with the 3.5mm headset and a 6s.

iPhone XR 13.2.2

IPhone 11 Pro Max, iOS 13.2.2, 2017 Toyota. Same exact problem here. Siri fails when I say “hey Siri, Send a text to XXX” or “call XXX’s home” - sometimes it gives up, sometimes a call is placed using the phone speaker instead of the car’s bluetooth. It’s aggravating in the extreme and potentially dangerous for drivers! Hey Apple - please fix ASAP this or allow us to replace Siri with Google Assistant as our iPhone default assistant.

I have the same problem on my iPhone 11 Pro that I just got yesterday. I have iOS 13.2.3 and my car is a 2017 Toyota. I disabled and re-enabled SIRI. Same issue. I unpaired the phone and repaired to the car. Same issue. If I remember correctly, I had setup it up as a New Phone when I was on my way home from the Apple Store and it was working correctly, but then when I got home I did a restore from a back from my iPhone X and in the morning on the way to work I noticed this new issue with no audio to my car speakers from SIRI. I started a chat with Apple and they asked me to update to iOS 13.2.3 and re-start the chart. It sill doesn't work. I'll need to start a new chat. I wondered if it was my car so I tried it on my wife's 2017 Lexus and it worked fine!
