No Siri audio over bluetooth

New iPhone 11 Pro Max - IOS 13.1.2 (updated today but issue was same in 13.1.1 ) - I have no siri audio over bluetooth devices. First noticed in my car when asking Siri questions (usually comes through car speakers) but when asked a question, remains completely silent but Siri animation is shown on iPhone and text is on screen (say weather etc.). Music and phone calls are ok but nothing from siri. So tested the same on Bose Mini II SoundLink - same issue - no Siri audio on speaker but does play on iPhone rather than remain silent. I noticed, whilst Siri is in action, the bluetooth icon in the bottom right of the screen, so I press this and it shows two Bose SoundLinks but as soon as I press the bluetooth icon and attempt to switch to speaker, Siri stops. Again, music and calls ok over the speaker. I've tried, unpair/pair, switch off phone, restore etc - same issue.

Just also tried my airpods - siri requests played on phone initially no through airpods. Made a phone call, came through on airpods then subsequent siri request came through on Airpods !

Some clearly not right with Bluetooth on either IOS 13 or iPhone 11 !

Have an iPhone X so going to set that up shortly and test that !

An update ! I have discovered that if you say Hey Siri in the car, she will remain silent but the question will be answered on the iPhone screen. Bluetooth activates and the dash says In call. However, if you invoke Siri by pressing the side button and asking a question, Siri is heard over the car bluetooth. I have tested this numerous times and used exactly the same questions and everytime i press the side button, then ask the question, it works but invoking by saying Hey Siri does not.

I also updated to IOS 13.1.3 today and the issue remains.

iOS12 - bluetooth connection worked as expected (I have an old, un-updated iPhone 6S running iOS12 which functions as it should with my car’s bluetooth). iOS13 (and my new iPhone 11 Pro Max) - bluetooth connection fails miserably. Perhaps, in Apple’s calculus, the car’s broken implementation of bluetooth combined with iOS12’s “broken” implementation of bluetooth produced a working (but wrong) result?

It’s enough Apple. Every other iPhone other than the iPhone 11 Pro (and maybe the 11?) works with the car Bluetooth using the same version of iOS.

Stop blaming others, take responsibility, and fix this. You have had numerous bug reports submitted to you through your public feedback portal. This is a reliably reproducible issue and there is deafening silence with occasional blame on users and third parties for your incompetence. Did you not make this part of your test suite for iOS? Will you now make it so?

Please fix this.

I am running at IOS 13.2.3 now, and have the same problem. When asking Siri a question, normally the answer would play over my car's speakers. Now, a Bluetooth in-call shows on the car's screen, but no audio is heard. Siri's answer appears on my phone's screen. I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max, and my car is a 2011 Nissan Rogue.

Siri Bluetooth audio worked fine with the initial IOS 13.0 release that came with my new phone. After the first upgrade, the above problem started.

Also, phone call, maps, etc. audio all work normally over the car's Bluetooth. It is just Siri that has the issue.

Reported this issue to Apple only to be told that I need to update the cars firmware as I have a 2015 Hyundai i30 sr . It's obvious from this thread that there's an issue with the iphone 11 as my iphone 8 running 13.2. worked fine when saying "hey Siri" text whoever. Now it shows on the screen that it's engaged siri but just times out and both the phone and car speakers remain silent.

Really unhappy !!

Yeah, I did log a bug report through the link and got a call from Apple here in Australia. I followed some basic troubleshooting, like renaming the device , but it didn’t fix the issue , AND, the issue is the same . You go, “Hey Siri” and instead of “ go ahead” coming through the speakers, there is nothing but a display and timer in progress on the cars dash, and the phone just flashes around. I told the Apple rep, ‘ are all iPhone 11 Pro users going to have to update their cars firmware ‘ , and he couldn’t answer. It’s definitely a fault .

Over the past few days I have been fortunate to have a senior engineer working on the issue collecting information including blue tooth logs, etc and trying a bunch of options to see if we can get this to work. We did not BUT ... We did find one way to get audible feedback over the car's bluetooth. It's not hands free BUT it proves that audible feedback over bluetooth DOES work.

1) Setting / Siri & Search / Press Side Button For Siri

2) Settings / Accessibility / Siri / Make sure "Type to Siri" is off.

3) With your phone connected to your car's bluetooth ... use the right button to activate Siri and say something like "New Message" and you should get audible feedback.

I am not suggesting to use this in place of hands free, but just as a way to prove to apple that audible feedback DOES work just not when you say "Hey Siri" and are truly hands free

I have tested the side button and i get audio feedback from siri. I also noticed that if i’m on a call and i get a second one bt gets disconnected. I have tested it also on my bt receiver which is connected to the aux but the results are the same, hello siri gives no feedback, side button gives feedback, getting a second call causes disconnect. Apple maps, google maps and sygic navigation all work, i’m getting audio feedback through the car’s system. So yeah... do a fix already.

I have the exact same issue. I’ve used the iPhone 6, iPhone 8 Max and Xs Max all in this vehicle flawlessly. I upgraded to 11 Pro Max with iOS 13 and have this same problem. I’m ready to throw this thing through a wall! I have a 2009 Nissan Murano. My wife is also having this issue after upgrading from 8 to 11 Pro on her 2010 Nissan Ultima.

Hiya, yes , am making headway with Apple. Have had phone conversations we’re they’ve collected analytics on the phone and have uploaded video footage for them showing the problems in action. The more people that contact them about the issue, the faster the bug fix will be released. They’re definitely acknowledging it as a fault , so we’re getting somewhere

I agree with the above. The more people that call in to say this is an issue will have the fix escalated.

I too have contacted Apple. I have sent videos and had them download profiles onto my phone for them to gather information on how Siri was malfunctioning. When I first called in for the issue they were trying to tell me that this was the way Siri was intended to work and that the prior phones were the ones malfunctioning. WHAT A JOKE. I laughed at them and said that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard. You could tell it was a script they were given because the next three times I called in I was told the exact same thing.

Anyways keep pushing the issue with them until they finally fix this issue!
