No Siri audio over bluetooth

New iPhone 11 Pro Max - IOS 13.1.2 (updated today but issue was same in 13.1.1 ) - I have no siri audio over bluetooth devices. First noticed in my car when asking Siri questions (usually comes through car speakers) but when asked a question, remains completely silent but Siri animation is shown on iPhone and text is on screen (say weather etc.). Music and phone calls are ok but nothing from siri. So tested the same on Bose Mini II SoundLink - same issue - no Siri audio on speaker but does play on iPhone rather than remain silent. I noticed, whilst Siri is in action, the bluetooth icon in the bottom right of the screen, so I press this and it shows two Bose SoundLinks but as soon as I press the bluetooth icon and attempt to switch to speaker, Siri stops. Again, music and calls ok over the speaker. I've tried, unpair/pair, switch off phone, restore etc - same issue.

Just also tried my airpods - siri requests played on phone initially no through airpods. Made a phone call, came through on airpods then subsequent siri request came through on Airpods !

Some clearly not right with Bluetooth on either IOS 13 or iPhone 11 !

Have an iPhone X so going to set that up shortly and test that !

Yep - Same here. Just installed 13.3.1 and now I can hear Siri over my car speakers etc... as it had worked before. Mine is Iphone 11

Did not need to update my vehicle software etc... just needed 13.3.1

Hope it resolves all for you folks as well.

The 13.3.1 update solved the issue of not being able to dictate texts for me. Only thing I notice is that now Siri seems to allow only a VERY slight pause between words before closes out the message and asks to send it. Seems like it used to allow a pause of up to a second or two before. Hard to get a two sentence text dictated with a slight pause between the two sentences, as is pretty normal in speech. E.g. I’m going to the store <beat> Do you need anything? Seems like it has to be dictated as “I’m going to the store do you need anything” or it closes out after the word store.

I also just tried my previous iPhone XS Max as that worked fine with iOS 12 and I think it also worked with iOS 13.1 beta. The same Xs Max is now on 13.1.2 and when hey Siri is asked, it does reply - out of the phone not via Bluetooth!

any iPhone connected by cable to Apple CarPlay works just fine which is what I’m having to do now !

im going to have a chat with Apple tomorrow 🤬

I have the exact same issue in my 2013 Volvo S60. I also noticed the bluetooth icon and my car has a duplicate bluetooth entry and behaves exactly as you described. I've already tried resetting my settings to no avail and then I did a backup and restore and that doesn't solve the issue. My wife's iPhone 11 behaves the same way in my car. Definitely a bug in iOS 13. Apple us suggesting try setting up my phone and a brand new device and starting over. Seems ridiculous to me.

Adding my experience with this issue as well. No audio heard when using Hey Siri in car, can see phone connect and all, but silent all around.

Initiating Siri via side button does play audio over car BT, and phone calls working okay (*touch wood* haven't encountered call dropouts as experienced by others).

Pretty important as local laws forbid handling phone while driving so Hey Siri is a crucial feature to avoid fines as well as for safety.

Reported this issue to Apple only to be told that I need to update the cars firmware as I have a 2015 Hyundai i30 sr . It's obvious from this thread that there's an issue with the iphone 11 as my iphone 8 running 13.2. worked fine when saying "hey Siri" text whoever. Now it shows on the screen that it's engaged siri but just times out and both the phone and car speakers remain silent.

Really unhappy !!

I agree with the above. The more people that call in to say this is an issue will have the fix escalated.

I too have contacted Apple. I have sent videos and had them download profiles onto my phone for them to gather information on how Siri was malfunctioning. When I first called in for the issue they were trying to tell me that this was the way Siri was intended to work and that the prior phones were the ones malfunctioning. WHAT A JOKE. I laughed at them and said that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard. You could tell it was a script they were given because the next three times I called in I was told the exact same thing.

Anyways keep pushing the issue with them until they finally fix this issue!

my facts:

All phones worked with all Bluetooth (BT) prior to iOS 13

As of today my husbands SE on 13.2 will not work w/Siri in any car (2011 BMW, 2019 BMW, 2018 Nissan)

It does work if Google Maps is talking thru BT

My phone is an 11 Pro on 13.3. As of today and upgrade to 13.3 my phone now works with Siri paired to a $25 Jumbo BT speaker, it will not work w/Siri in any car. It does work if Google Maps is talking thru BT.

Apple is very aware of this issue, and has been since September. Wish I'd researched the threads before buying the iPhone 11 Pro. Static in my car while on Bluetooth, and Siri cannot be heard through the car speakers unless it is for Directions via Maps. Visited the Apple Store 6 times, they replaced the handset 2 times, and then told me not to come back!!! Told me to speak with AppleCare via the 800 number.

In the past 7 days, I've spoken with AppleCare 4 times, recorded and sent logs twice. Each time, I've been told to sit tight and let the developers look into this problem Apple pretends not to know about. Each tech tells me they will call me back within 24-48 hours, and they never have.

Today, I asked for a new handset and to reset the warranty clock to zero bc my new phone does not function as marketed. One tech said, "ok" but let's wait for the technicians to reply first. Subsequent techs told me they will no longer replace the handset, and that I must sit and wait for an update from Apple. Frustrating!

Not holding my breath on a fix from Apple anytime soon. Online searches show this problem popping up in online forums right after the iPhone 11 launch. BTW, have a friend with an iPhone 11 (not Pro like) and his acts the same way with our BMW 3 Series and our Honda Odyssey, two pretty ubiquitous vehicles.

Poor execution, customer service and customer service messaging (just wait for us, tick-tock runs the warranty clock)...am about to put the 11 Pro back in a drawer and use my iPhone X. May even just take the loss and dump the 11 Pro on Ebay out of frustration. Nice camera and better battery, but total fail at its primary functions of vehicle phone and text platform.
