iPhone ringer volume keeps turning down

Since upgrading to iOS 13.1(now 13.1.2), the volume on the phone that that I normally have set on maximum level, keeps lowering on its own to about 25%. I became aware of the problem when my alerts (email, text, other alerts) were often barely audible if phone was in my pants pocket.

I can raise it back to maximum and it can lower on it's own within a few minutes even if the phone has not been in use, having any activity, or even wakened. One I time raised the volume, plugged it in to charge while in the car, picked it up less than two minutes later and the volume had dropped. In a thirty minute timeframe of checking, the volume dropped four times. The phone has now gone an hour without the volume changing so doesn't appear to be time related.

All though these events I did not use (or touch) the side volume buttons other than to raise it back to my normal levels.

Under settings/sounds & haptics, the Change with Buttons is on and does function.

I have an iPhone Pro Max 12, am on ios 14.4.2 and have the same problem. Additionally, I have 'change with buttons' off...but my side volume buttons still function the same. Totally confusing and annoying.

Apple..... WHEN are you going to address this issue.? Your phones are of no value if we mill all of our calls.

I have two iPhones. I have not added any new apps, change settings to either one of them. But shortly after updating to the latest OS, both of them have the same problem. The volume turned down several times during the day. Sometimes I can turn it up, look back in five minutes and the volume is down. I’ve had iPhones from day one, I’ve been waiting for the iPhone 12, but from what I have been reading people getting new phones or having the same problem with iOS 14. Today I upgraded to 14.1 hoping it would correct the problem. 10 minutes after checking my phone, the volume was down.

Apple has let us down! They say it’s not a software problem! Wow, suddenly thousands of phones, mechanically a failed!!!!! Apple, face the problem and fix it I am sure many owners will migrate to Samsung

My ringer volume is also a problem. Recently I’ve found that it turns itself down to zero for no reason. I’m missing calls, etc. I’ve tried setting it to maximum in settings with the buttons both on and off, but it still does it. The phone is now unreliable. Will Apple fix this or do we need to change to another make of phone?

I have had the same issue and I have had 3 phones in 2 weeks all doing the same. I did do the latest update yesterday and for the last 12 hours my ringer has NOT moved. Try the newest update. If my ringer goes down 1 more time, Im taking it back and will buy a Android, I have always had Apple phones but if they will not admit there is a issue then I don't need there phone.

Me too - and other problems since recent update to 14.1. No issues before. Randomly/frequently my ringers & alerts volume is turned all the way down. I have tried every solution recommend. There are also other issues: the settings to set vibration tones are missing. One of my apps says notifications aren’t turned on but when it takes me to my settings, there’s nowhere to turn them on - that setting is missing. Don’t you think it’s funny that this happens right when they release a new phone? Like they want people to be so frustrated they just buy the new model iPhone.

I noticed the volume on my iPhone 11 Pro going silent on its own months ago, thought it was setting ore something I did. The volume going down is annoying and I hope someone figures out the problem but I am not going to leave the Apple ecosystem over this problem. I read that people considering buying an Android phone, I have had Android phones in the past and my iPhone volume going down on its own is nothing compared to Android issues. Their update system (from Google, to phone manufacturer to service provider can take 6 months) is ridiculous, you can play a guessing game on what service Google will disable next, and manufacturers support a phone for at most 3 years with Android updates. That being said, if I did switch would buy a Pixel but I think I would have to switch to Verizon to use all of the features.

I’ve had 3 phones in 2 weeks and they all do it, my third phone is going back tomorrow and I am now forced to buy android!

Apple tells me it’s impossible for the ringer to move on its own! Obviously, it’s a software issue that they are refusing to fix!

Tried all the fix’s and nothing helps! I need a phone that rings!

Shame on Apple, been a loyal customer for years and years and they just lost me!
