FIX to apple watch NOT starting vehicle (Chevy)

Was loving using the myChevrolet app on my I watch 4 to start my car but after upgrading my phone to the 10s the app on my watch no longer works. The symbol is there but won’t open to the controls. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app several times with no help. The app does work on my phone. Any ideas would be appreciated.

So since the update to the Apple Watch I was unable to start my truck from my watch. I've now corrected this action.

Go to the myChevrolet app ON YOUR PHONE

scroll down to "Settings".

Press "Settings".

Press "Apple Watch".

Switch the open for "Save PIN" to the ON mode.

Restart phone.

Restart watch.

Start vehicle with Apple Watch.

You're Welcome!

Looks like its working with mygmc app as well. GMC tech support took it seriously in finding out more on my end. Then the latest ios update pretty much at the same time period. Popped up on watch to enter pin. I checked to see if pin was saved in its settings. Turned it off then back on. Checked its settings on the phone too. Last two days on the watch have been able to use the app to lock/unlock etc. Though posts were on chevy brand. It applied to gmc as well. Glad to see its most likely an ios issue that needed attention.

Well, I spoke too soon. It worked once last night. Never again. I have tried multiple times today. In the app when I hit the remote start button I get the message "use remote start when it is safe and legal to do so" Below is a "continue" button and a "cancel" button. The continue button is grayed out and will not respond. Strangely, I also get a quick flash of a red outline of a cell phone with a line crossed through it right before I get the message just described. I am interested in any suggestions. Using an iPhone XS with Apple Watch series 5.

Hmmm.......So check this out.

Go to your phone, open the Chevy app...

AFTER you put your pin in or use face ID.....

Go to your watch and then try to start it.

I know this is counterintuitive from JUST using the watch...but just try and see if it works then.

After that...use your watch to stop your vehicle.

Then lock your phone and see if you can start it again with your watch.

Then hit me up again and let me know if it works. Thanks.

Mine only works for the time period that I open the app on my phone and login. My app is set for the pin pass through for the watch. I go to my watch and click on the app to start, it sits there and doesn't do anything. I go to the app on my phone and it goes right to the pin and logs in with Face ID and then I go to the watch and hit start again and it goes through. I have an 11 Pro Max and an Apple Watch 5.

I apologize to keshone, I followed up a couple of times after October 30, but I now see apparently my additional replies did not get posted. I have not been able to get the watch app to work consistently. I have tried all of your suggestions and have deleted and re-installed the apps, rebooted, etc. My experience is more along the line of Bilh69, which, of course, makes the watch app worthless if it can't work independently of the phone. It's like right now, the "continue" button is grayed out and no matter how hard and how many times I tap it, NOTHING! It seems to me the watch app needs work.

Thanks for this fix...after two restarts it seemed to get things in sync, along with turning the save PIN option off and on again. I've noticed that opening the app and entering my PIN always solves this issue, but that is entirely different from what I want. If the PIN is required, it would be nice if the myChev iWatch App could ask for the PIN, the screen is big enough to enter it. I'm not suspecting Chevrolet's Customer Service will be of much help :(

You post had me thinking about MyGMC app. Got it downloaded to my watch but it wouldn't work. Then I opened my phone and used it that way. Then when I went back to my watch it allowed me to use the app on my watch to lock and unlock the phone. blow the horn, stop blowing the horn. Locate vehicle. No idea now if just needed to initially login on my phone to get it to work or not. But hopefully once is enough to let me continue it on my watch. Especially the lock and unlock feature.

Yes. That’s what I mean by the watch app doesn’t make sense if you need to initiate the process with the iPhone first... in that case why would I need the open the app on my watch? In any case, it seems that after you start the app on the phone there’s a limited window of operation for the watch. After which you have to start the iPhone app first if you want the watch app to work again.

I found that I can tell already if on the watch the locates vehicle has a question mark next to it, meaning the iPhone and watch are not talking to each other...

So I have the PIN saved To the watch through the setting on the iPhone app.

even WITHOUT closing the mychevy app on my phone (double hitting home button and swiping the app away) or my watch, after a bit of time the watch app becomes disabled again and the phone app is asking for the PIN to be entered in order to execute the function. (Lock/unlock/locate etc)
