#images not working on cellular after iOS 13 update

I have an iPhone 7 and just updated it - among other horrible problems, I cannot figure out how to get my gifs to send in messages. If I am on wifi, they work, if not, I get a message saying "Could Not Share Image. The internet connection appears to be offline". Old suggestions say to go to Cellular and turn on Hashtagimages, but that is not an option in my cellular settings.

I have the newest update 13.1.2, I have MMS Messaging turned on and my #images still does not work on cellular. I have reset my network settings and all settings. Nothing is working. Is this happening to anyone else with the newest iOS update?

Update: So I went & had several screenshares with 2 of Apple’s tech support agents about this #images problem. On the second session, we found that unfortunately for now, it-is-what-it-is. There is one work around until Apple’s engineers work out a solution in a future update. Since the technical advisors found this issue so interesting, I am hopeful that Apple will resolve this in 13.1.4 or next update. The workaround that we found didn’t involve resetting all network settings or deleting all content and settings, nor does it require a reload of the operating system. Instead of all that craziness and time wasted, you do have the option to go to the App Store. From there, look for an actual third party keyboard & install it. This will allow you to access and search for memes and “#images” like before but through the use of the alternate keyboard, instead of Apple’s faulty one, presently. That’s the best I can offer everyone as a temporary fix until Apple figures out a better, more streamlined and user-friendly solution. I mean let’s be real here, that little red icon on our regular keyboard is an every day reminder that we can’t use the app for what it is designed for!

Let’s get it done Apple.

Thanks for sharing! Not sure if you found it but in response to MattSchultz2 I wrote an update with a possible temp solution to this problem. I’ll copy it here for you:

Hey M006 yeah I had read it and thought I had responded saying that I found gif keyboard was the best and seemed to even have more options than #images. Thanks for looking out and getting in touch with Apple it’s really appreciated and atleast now we have an answer from them and plus it’s pretty nice to see a group of people come together to come together to try and figure out a problem. Next problem I need to figure out is why I have multiple apps including my mail app and then my Active911 app for my fire department both do this thing where if I try to delete my mail or click on a notification on active 911 both will still show the red 1 notification above the app for hours sometimes days. And sometimes I’ll delete mail it will still show the notification above the app I’ll go back in and the mail I just deleted will be back and I’ll do this multiple times over the next hours to days even restarting my phone force stopping apps and it will continue to do this until I guess it’s been deleted enough times that it finally stays deleted

My iPhone 8 Plus was totally disabled after the IOS 13 update. NO phone service, NO texts, NO apps worked. Nothing. All blank White Screens. I had 3 friends have varying degrees of trouble with this update too. After spending nearly 19 hours from 10/12/19 - 10/20/19 at the AT & T stores & then on NUMEROUS phone calls to Apple Support, of course, my phone had to be backed up to iCloud or iTunes...I did both just to be sure. The phone was #1. Restored to the new phone settings. It was wiped clean. #2. Everything had to be set up as if this were a brand new phone...name, password, all the set up that has to be done for a new phone. #3. Then we added info back to the phone from the iCloud, like Contacts, Apps, etc. After so many tries, I couldn't believe that it actually worked! The prior Apple Support agents were (A.) Restoring the phone to the new phone settings & (B.) retrieving my info that was backed up into the Cloud or iTunes. Then they (C.) set it up as a new phone. That kept putting the bad info back into the phone. It was a hot mess until I finally got the right support person. Now it's a PAIN to have to go in & set up all the apps again, but it is better than having to purchase a new phone. Now I'm scared to do any future updates.

Same here. Force restarted a few times and it lets me do one search before it goes to the same error messages. 1. “Unable to load results” or 2. “It appears you are not connected to the internet” when I clearly am. Doesn’t matter if I’m on WiFi or cellular, I get the same message. Fully updated iPhone 11. Disappointing because this is one of my favorite features to use in messages..

I have tried everything on the internet with my wife’s she had the iPhone X and we just upgraded to the iPhone 11 pros my phone works fine hers still had the problem. What fixed hers just now is I had her factory reset it without using her backup just starting fresh and it fixed it. So it was something in her backup causing the problem. Hope this helps everyone

No every time we did a backup it would be the same problem. So she still had her contacts but had to start fresh on everything else. I would do a backup and try it without restoring the back and if it works then try and restore the backup and see if the problem comes back. If you try it please post the results curious to see if it works for other people

So I was having this problem on my iPhone X. Based off of other responses I believe this mainly happened to those people who had cellular off on the #images prior to one of the updates.

Either way... I just updated to the iPhone 11... like other recommendations I did not program it with settings from my 10. I activated it as if i did not have an iPhone already. I then retrieved my contacts, messages, pictures, etc from the iCloud. I then let the iOS update. I AM now able to use the #images on cellular as well as WiFi. So I’m thinking the only fix at this point until Apple recognizes they need to fix this glitch is to do a factory reset of the phone and start over fresh... annoying but if you really want the old access then it’s worth the struggle for now since it doesn’t seem like Apple is fixing this glitch anytime soon.
