#images not working on cellular after iOS 13 update

I have an iPhone 7 and just updated it - among other horrible problems, I cannot figure out how to get my gifs to send in messages. If I am on wifi, they work, if not, I get a message saying "Could Not Share Image. The internet connection appears to be offline". Old suggestions say to go to Cellular and turn on Hashtagimages, but that is not an option in my cellular settings.

I have the newest update 13.1.2, I have MMS Messaging turned on and my #images still does not work on cellular. I have reset my network settings and all settings. Nothing is working. Is this happening to anyone else with the newest iOS update?

I have tried everything on the internet that I could find, and no solution available has remedied the situation. For a company worth nearly a trillion dollars, you would think they could find a solution or create a patch. Apparently not.

I have tried:

Changing Region X

Reset Network Settings X

Erase All Content and Settings X

Removing and adding the #images function in iMessage X

All the updates X

I even bought a NEW PHONE, and it still does NOT work. It probably would if I hadn’t restored from a back up, but I do not want to lose all of my data over a gif search engine.

I have an iPhone 11 Pro (model number MW9Y2LL/A) running iOS 13.3.1 and I'm still having this issue. When I try to add a GIF image and search for something, I get a "No results for" message. Anyone know how to fix this? Doesn't matter whether I'm on cellular or WiFi. I get the same outcome. Don't reset or restore your phone. I found out the hard way that it does not fix the issue. The GIF images feature works flawlessly on my sisters Android device (Samsung Note; latest one), but on the iPhone, NOT SO MUCH. Apple you're about to lose me. I have bought into the entire Apple ecosystem, and I'm tired of the non-stop bugs. You fix one thing only to break something else. Apple software has become a joke.

I have no clue if this will work for anybody here, but it worked for me. It doesn’t hurt to try it and it only takes a few minutes. I believe that it may be caused by Apple server overload though that’s just a gut feeling and not based on any expertise that I possess, because I freely admit, I have none.

You try turning off WiFi before you restart and then turn WiFi on again after the device boots up.

Launch Messages

Go to More all the way to the right in the app tray. Tap on Edit

Tap the red minus sign next to Images to remove it from Favorites

Turn Images off below - tap on the green button

Tap Done

Force close messages (turn WiFi off)

Restart your device (turn WiFi on)

Launch Messages

Tap on More in the app tray

Tap Edit

Turn #images on again

I can’t guarantee that will fix it, but you can give it a try.

I purchased an iPhone 7 on 15/4/20 from Optus but found #images (red tennis racquet looking icon) it say I am Offline. I have lost sleep trying to find cause on 18/4 Apple Support tried but told me to try resetting network settings but I lost contact with her as it closed mobile off and after it made no difference. I have googled and tried everything. I downloaded a Gif app from Apple Store but don’t like it and your privacy is exposed. I uninstalled it. Facebook Messenger I am able to find and send Gifs but not in my mobile message. Actually Message is only on the first page of Settings but when I select Mobile Data all my apps are there except Message (green icon). It should be there it’s only on the front page where it allows you to use iMessage or not. I leave that off now as it doesn’t make any difference whether it is on, still the #images icon says “offline”. I have the 13.2.3 update as it came with Mobile. And this mobile doesn’t have the “HashTagImage” neither. Going tomorrow to Optus to see if they can advise me. Bought it 5 days ago. My previous iPhone 6 had no problem with it, was working very well as it had HashTagImage ability. Good luck everyone.

Thank you Demo - For me, this problem only occurs on cellular. As with some other users here, I had previously disabled cell data for #images, at which time there was a switch for such (iOS 12). Having since upgraded to iOS 13, that switch has been removed, and so I am unable to turn it back on. Works fine with WiFi connection.

I suppose it’s worth a call to AppleCare, as I have an abundance of free time to kill these days... #covid
