iPhone not ringing after iOS 13 update

I did update to the 13.2 as soon as it came out. My phone has been working ok so far. (Ringing, Receiving texts and pictures) I am discouraged about so many still having problems, though, and Apple not solving them. For me so far the 13.2 is doing good. Fingers crossed!!

This may be caused by the new feature to Silence Unknown Callers - Settings, Phone and scroll down. This feature silences any phone call in which the phone number is not listed in your Contacts listing. If you have this feature turned on, try turning it off as this resolved the issue for me in iOS 13.1.3

The one thing that I didn't think of forever with this and does seem to have fixed the issue is the setting for silencing unknown callers, which was 'on' on my phone after the update (don't recall changing that so may be a new default?).

Try Settings -> Phone -> Silence Unknown Callers (obviously toggle to off).

I had the same problem after updating,! I managed to figure it out.

go to settings, notifications, scroll down to ‘phone’, then ‘sounds’, then click on vibrations and change it from ‘none’ to whatever type of vibration you like.

my phone now vibrates when I have a call!

I had the same problem after upgrading my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 13.

I solved that by reinstalling whole phone from scratch (factory reset).

I bought my iPhone Xr and immediately put in in an Otterbox case. The switch was covered and I did not realize it was in the silent position.

Since i had a problem with the ring i reset the settings and now my phone rings.

13.2.2 is out. Does it do the job?

I’m having the same issues w or w/o my earbuds. I’ve added the flashing light so I cld visually see my calls coming in. I’ve also powered down my phone and that seemed to work for a few calls but went back silent. So add the flashing light, it helps not missing a call when your phone is right in front of you.

Mine has been working fine for 19 hours now.

If yours has reverted back to no ring/notification... double-check you don't have Do Not Disturb on, and again, notify Apple.

The alternative is to backup the phone, reinstall the iOS, use as a "new phone" for a day or so, and see if the problem persists. if it doesn't, then restore your backup and keep checking settings.

If it does, then it's obviously an iOS bug

The ringing issue with iPhone 8 Plus and iOS 13.1.2 has already been solved. I went to Apple Store (at Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong) this morning and asked its technical support to check and fix it for me. The problem was tackled by deleting some blocked call lists via iCloud. My iPhone 8 Plus rings and vibrates now when there is an incoming call. I am very satisfied with Apple Store’s technical solution provided. It's efficient and effective. Thanks.

I believe I have fixed this issue on my iPhone X with iOS 13.2 beta 2. I deleted all of my blocked callers and rebooted. Seems to be ok. For now. Give it a try and see if it is a fix for anyone else.

If you are using wifi calling, I wonder if it is like iMessaging, where you can send and receive over wifi for other iMessage users, but not regular text recipients. complete speculation on my part.

I still haven't had the audio problem return since I reset network settings and then did a reboot. BUT... I did have a problem simply rebooting my phone last night. It turned off fine, but I couldn't get it to turn back on. Finally connected to my laptop via usb, and it booted, but that was a panic moment for sure. 15 minutes of trying to use the sleep/wake button, and connecting to different chargers before I was actually able to see it boot up.

After our T-Mobile technician did some housekeeping on the 8 +, I spent a long afternoon deleting over 200 “blocked contacts.” (Settings➡️Phone➡️Blocked Contacts) One of those two efforts, maybe both, seems to have worked for me.

I had this problem and fixed it by settings>sound and haptics and then under the slider for volume control, toggle on “change with buttons” I think what was happening was that I thought I was continually increasing the ringtone are using the buttons on the side but I wasn’t because this setting was off. Anyway it seems to work now. I think that this may be a number of different issues that all have the same outcome and so this probably won’t work for some people.
