Since updating to iOS 13, my phone (iPhone XS) is sitting right in front of me on my desk and when someone calls, the phone doesn't ring or make a sound. It appears to happen when the phone is plugged in by cable to my MacBook Pro. I'm currently running iOS 13.1.2.
Any suggestions?

I had the same problem and after talking to several apple reps one of them finally suggested putting the device on recovery mode and resetting it from scratch (don't use a back up, once logged in to iCloud it will retrieve most of your data, I did have to manually update my apps though). This solved my issue and my phone now rings and alerts me to texts! Apparently the software was corrupt and it needed to be removed and reinstalled (resetting it to factory settings on the cloud does not remove hardware). You will need to have iTunes on a computer, below is a link to how to set it on recovery mode, hopefully it helps some of you

You can try resetting network settings after the steps I posted above and see if that helps. That might help clear whatever bug is interfering with bluetooth
Hi, all! Update: Ever since I did the beta update to 13.2 so far everything is still working. And this is the longest period of success I’ve had after trying all the other suggestions.
I solved this problem by changing the ringtone.
13.3 so far so good. Fingers crossed

OK - I messed up on what I wrote. I went to Apple and downloaded iOS 13.2 which is a Beta version . Have slow internet, so download took almost 2 hours. Installed it and iPhone 11 still did not ring. Performed a power on/off and everything works. When I look at software on phone it says iOS13.1.2
Understand the Beta for iPad13.2 has been removed from access because in some cases it bricks the upgraded iPad. Do not know if 13.2 for iPhone is available still, and I think I am going out of my deapth from technical point of view here. Whatever I did worked.
I am having same issue for two weeks. Called Apple support and tried all their options. Took phone to certified Apple dealer per request of tech support. They ran diagnostics on phone and found no problems. They said it is software issue and I told them I knew that. It was update 13.1.2 that caused the issue. They said I have to wait for next update as there is nothing they can do. Very frustrating. Said they were not aware of issue and I told them to get on Apple community support forum and they’d see there is a issue. Soooo. Just waiting for next update to come I guess. I did download a different message app Message+ and shut off iMessage on message app so I can get alerted for text messages for now as that one does alert me and turned on light notification for phone calls. I’ll try to get by. Hope this helps others
Here’s something I may have come across that is interesting. If I turn my phone off and on again, my texts notifications work perfectly normal as they should for hours on end (going on 9 hours so far without a hiccup) as long as I don’t receive an incoming phone call. I can make outgoing calls all I want and have done so but it seems as though something with 13.1.2 and incoming calls is triggering the issue to occur. Can anyone disprove this? I’m real curious. I’ve been lucky enough for 9 hours to have not received a phone call 😂 and so far all is good. 🤙 I’ll update and see if it continues until I receive an incoming call. Certainly not a fix but possibly a useful observation?🤷♂️
Wish I could say everything was great. My only fix I have found is to power cycle my phone every 2 hours. It’ll ring for a couple of calls then stop suddenly. Doesn’t matter if it’s an unknown caller or a favorite, or a saved contact. My wife will call and it’ll ring, the next time silent. Email has been locking up and not updating. Photos app freezes when sharing. Other Apps crash still. BUT, I Installed iOS 13.2.3 this morning so I’ll see if any of those issues are truly fixed.
Spoken to Apple Support extensively. According to them, they are aware of the situation & is under review. After going though all the checklist to isolate the possible causes with the same result, they are asking me to now do a factory reset after monitoring for 24 hours. Has anyone done this & does it work?

To use the camera flash for notifications, Go:
Settings> Accessability > Audio/Visual
At the bottom you can turn on LED Flash for Alerts
I downloaded the beta of 13.1.2, then, once downloaded turned phone off then on. The no ring problems cured. The phone still rings after 24 hours, so this likely a fix
