notifications not working ios 13.1.2

Since installing iOS 13.1.2, I do not message notifications on either my iPhone Xr or my watch. Receives are received, but no notifications. I’ve changed settings on both watch and phone, but still no notifications. Is this a known bug? Fix on the way?

This describes my issue exactly! My wife is the person I don't get notifications from. One of the things I read online said to try resetting network settings, and I had something interesting happen when I tried that. Once I had done it, I had her text me, but instead of saying "You have a new text message from Missie" it said "You have a new text message from (###) ###-####" (her phone number). I opened my texts, and watched the display on name on her text message change from "(###) ###-####" to "Missie". I thought everything was fixed except then I stopped getting notifications from her AGAIN. The phone stopped giving me notifications again as soon as it realized it was her. I'm also on Verizon... but I agree with you that this being a carrier issue doesn't make much sense.

Solved this problem on iPhone 11 (13.1.3). There were no notifications (sound/banner) on locked screen, although the messages actually arrived.

After some trial and error figured out that this is caused by iMessage switch in ON position. Turning off iMessage (which doesn't add any value IMO, at least for me) has fixed this. I verified by re-testing.

I had the same issue. Go to notifications under setting and then messages. My notifications toggle was turned off, don’t know why. Switched the toggle and everything was good.

also I just noticed under notifications/mail the sound notification option is set to none. I’ve never changed that setting, it appears that the iOS is defaulting some of these settings to off.

Similar issue! i dont get whatsapp messages until i launch the app. So a single grey tick is shown on the senders screen. Basically once i’m not on the whatsapp screen my connection falls. I’ve checked background app refresh settings and its still on. Notifications are enabled. I also did the ios 13.2 update and the whatsapp appstore update but no luck. Its so frustrating and i cant believe they still haven’t resolved it in weeks! Whatsapp are insisting its not about an issue on their side... didnt even bother contacting apple since i’m sure they must be aware of it by now!

I am having same issue on 13.1.3 on 7 Plus. Whatsapp messages come but no notifications are shown on the phone. I have tried to restart the phone but no results. Also on my MacOs Catalina on the WhatsApp desktop version I am constantly seeing "Phone not connected". However when I unlock the phone and open the WhatsApp application on the iPhone, then it connects and only then I am able to view the recent messages.

The whole thing is bizarrely irritating.

My wife is the only one I don't get notifications from as well. I have updated to 13.2.2 thinking that would solve the issue. I am on Sprint. I even deleted her contact, deleted every text, group text and such she was on and still not resolved. Sometimes, after toggling "hide alerts" on then off and then I am in the app with the phone open, I get a notification. If the phone is off and locked, no notification at all yet the message comes through. My daughter texts me, I get notification on my watch, on my phone and no issues. Even after deleting her contact and having her text me as an "unknown" still no dice.

Have you had any luck?

Mine still doesn’t work, sometimes when listening to Spotify the music will go quiet for a second but notification sound. Most of the time I just check my messages to see the many new texts that I didn’t know I received. It seems like when Im on my phone the notifications will sound but if I’m not touching my phone I don’t know when I receive messages.

Perhaps you inadvertently signed up to beta test the new 'Don't notify me if the message is from my wife' feature? I understand that this has been a highly requested option. Word on the street is that Apple is very interested in rolling this out as its assumed that it will be one of their most profitable offerings in the history of the corporation. It works like this... Wife: " Why didn't you respond to any of my text messages? Husband: "What text message? See... look here Honey, I didn't get any messages from you, but I get them from everyone else. Are you texting some other man!".

Presto chango and you're totally off the hook, because everyone Apple fanboy knows that Apple never makes a mistake. That is unquestionable! Proof? Have you ever even once heard Apple admit to a screw up? Even iOS13 is perfect!

iOS 13 keeps getting worse. 13.2.3 and now my email account freezes up and won't update (Gmail). I Can't download new emails or send emails. Can't delete or move emails to another folder. Please tell me I'm not the only one experiencing this. Oh, and I am still experiencing the issue of my phone not ringing after a few hours after power cycling it. From what I've read, the brand new phones experience it too. Is that correct? or should I buy the brand new one? I can't take these bugs anymore...

None of the recently suggested work arounds actually work for me. One requires killing the message thread for any person whose messages you don't receive a notification about, then start a new thread. Are they kidding? Delete entire discussion threads? This not a serious workaround for any significant text user. Other work around suggestions are equally ridiculous or not easily applied, like turn off your watch. Um...

I WILL NOT be applying ANY further iOS revs for the foreseeable future. I only updated my phone so I could pair my new birthday-gift watch. Now the giver has some guilt, even though it's what I wanted. I have kept my iPad at 12..x.x. I have turned off all automatic updates for the duration. As a very early Apple adopter and user, I have been true and defended the company against the competition. It's gotten harder.

As Apple has grown into a mostly consumer products company and left "computer company" in the dust, they have started to show cracks and vulnerability to the usual woes of consumer electronic products, to wit paying little attention to feature interactions, software reliability, and throwing updates out that are not ready for prime time. Very sad to see.

Wake up and smell the roses folks. This problem is a month old and Apple has done nothing.... are a least nothing significant. Has there even been an acknowledgment?... NO.. NOTHING!

When Mr Jobs was alive, Apple was arrogant but he still made the company efficient and on the ball. Now that he is gone, the company is just arrogant.

They don't care about anything except cool looking advertising and selling the next phone. We all know that they slow down and induce a little more user frustration with each iOS update... making lame excuses that everyone knows are baloney... as an example, like 'preserving battery life'. Even if that was true slowing down a phone is not Apple's decision to make on our behalf. I've read the posts and many people are commenting about buying a new iphone to solve the problem... see just how conditioned they are to replace their phone each time they become too frustrating to use? Wake up... you drank the Koolaid! Apple has conditioned your responses folks!

I've been using Apple product for many years, but I guess it's time to face the facts, Apple has been surpassed by it's competition, their glory days are gone and their self-righteousness is what has lead to their coming downfall. Sell your stocks while they still have some value. Let me know when a new CEO cans the executives, gets out of bed with the communist Chinese and gives this company the kick in the butt that it deserves.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.
