Mac Os Catalina do not sync photos with iOS Devices

Im using Mac OS Catalina 10.15, I have my photos on the Photos App, (I do not use iCloud photos).

To sync the photos, I connect the iPad to the Mac, open Finder (Since iTunes is gone), select the iPad from (locations) go to the right and click on Photos, select the albums and then hit sync. All the photos are not synced and apparently it syncs the albums under the root "My Albums" but is not able to sync the albums that are inside a folder.

Wow. Brilliant. It won't help everyone, but this helped me. I only wanted two folders of photos on my iPhone, the one of our cats and another album of selected photos. So, by moving those albums to sit under 'My Albums' instead of being sub-folders, I was finally able to get the photos I wanted on my iPhone.

Maybe this trick will help some others as well: if you can live with just a few albums on your phone, move them under 'My Albums' and then synch your iPhone through Finder.

Thanks Diego!!!

Same for me.

log as different user and also reinstalled Catalina.

Catalina do not sync from Photo but only from folders (with the loss of persons, places and all was built with Photo), undo of deleted mails don't work, unlock with watch don't work (for me), and a lot of other malfunctions.

But it seems Apple is aware of these issues... they just need to fix them

I too have the newest OS and iOS, and cannot sync selected albums from Photos on my MacBook Pro to my iPhone 8. I tried / did / checked everything the Sr. Advisor suggested, but when she asked me to create a new User account in which to try this, that's when I had enough. Too often, IMHO, the issue lies not in my updated configuration, but in the update itself. And I can live a few more weeks without any photos on my iPhone.

i just tried this a bunch of times with several different iterations - still nothing. i even tried taking the music playlists off my phone, resyncing, selecting those playlists again and the doing another sync. the music came back but when i tried to replicate with photos, nope. still not there.

i also have many, many years of organized photos and i can't get any of them back on my phone. i even tried creating a shared album to icloud and i couldn't even get that to work.

suuuuuuuuper frustrating.

More than one year that we struggle with this issue. It seems that Apple does not move if we do not use iCloud ... or I am a bit pessimistic and they will fix it. Personally this is completely messing up my photo workflow and I am considering moving to Windows 10 with a Surface environment. After more of 30 years with Apple, I am kind of disappointed. The key strong point of Apple used to be customer satisfaction....

Are you listening Apple?! I mean, is there anyone out there actually listening?! This is a disgrace! How could you possibly think about releasing something that would cause such havoc and heartache ~ not to mention loss of face on the part of your users! I've been saying for years that all Apple seems to be interested in is toys, when we long-term 'hard-core' Apples users, (who have spent tens of thousands on actual computers), are constantly being let down! My iMac is like a tortoise with Catalina! I have 32GB of RAM and I get a spinning beach ball every time I double-click my hard drive icon or open 'system preferences'. Why hasn't someone in Apple who has real clout come out and actually say, 'Sorry'?!

These are exactly my thoughts, too! I loved the whole Apple ecosystem: hardware, software and services. Most important was seamless integration and stability/quality. Therefore, it was ok for me to pay premium prices....for premium service and quality.

I am absolutely frustrated, that they do not understand the importancy of high quality software....this is for me the fundament of their eco system! And if they have to write them a support request due to a bug....and I have the feeling, that they ignore me (no answer to any of my support requests!)....I just feel as a cash cow.....

But in my case, the cow has the choice to move to another meadow...

To make it crystal clear: it's not only this one problem....in the last releases of MacOS an iOS i had tons of it...

I too am considering switching to a PC, and that's a real stretch for me. Catalina is a POS. Here are just a few of the "features" I am having some fun with:

  1. Pic sync...very frustrating
  2. Sssslow. Not sure what happened but it takes a long time for my mail app to open, not to mention Music and photo apps
  3. Music...where's the remote option that iTunes had?
  4. system preferences...probably a photo app problem too...hard to get a screen saver working that uses any of my pics
  5. This new operating system does not run many of the programs I paid for...Office for example, Aperture, my scanner, and many more. And even when I update the software and firmware for my scanner...it doesn't work
  6. I have had to reboot my iMac almost every time i leave it on for any length of time and then Music and Photos both take forever to open

What drew me to Apple in the first place was the integration tweet devices and the way it handles audio and pictures. if all those cool abilities are now gone, it's time for a change.

Suggestion...give us an easy way to go back to High Sierra, where everything worked or fix the **** thing before I buy a PC
