what is navlibx

updated to Catalina last night. I have this persistent message that "navlibx" will damage your computer window that keeps coming up and won't go away? Any thoughts how to get rid of it?

This is quite possibly the single most negligent answer I've read in a while. Even if OS X were so secure it would be absolutely impossible to execute any kind of malicious code, which it isn't, it can still act as a carrier for malicious code, be they viruses or otherwise, to vulnerable machines. Having worked my entire career in large distributed collaborative environments with every flavor of operating system connected where documents are constantly passed back-and-forth over email, network drives, and internal web pages, I can tell you it doesn't take a whole lot for a virus to spread quickly.

Just because OS X isn't affected doesn't mean it has to be a part of the problem.

Sure there have been viruses for macs and they do exist

Flashback trojan is just one of many viruses that has infected over 650,000 macs worldwide. So you shouldnt be teaching people that there is no risks out there in the wild.

Obviously i'm not debating with you the fact that you can avoid infections on a mac using common sense, but its a bold statement to make and teach others that there is no such thing as a mac virus, that is simply not true.

Once you again, your facts are incorrect. Leep-a was another Trojan and like other Trojans are easily avoidable by using a small amount of common sense.

In addition Leep-a only infected 1 version of Mac OS, Tiger which has been considered obsolete for about 10+ years!

If you are going to cry wolf, please at least cry about a wolf and not a dog and please don't cry about an extinct wolf variation.

There are no wolves for Mac OS, perhaps a few dogs that will bite but they're on the other side of a fence. Don't jump over the fence and you won't get bit. In short, use some common sense!

That's the advice I'm given folks.

My advice to anyone that currently uses AV apps for Mac OS is simple, it will lead to a slow, potentially unstable system that has no benefit. Use some common sense and enjoy a fast, trouble-free experience of Mac OS.

You said mac has zero viruses and they do not exist. All I said is yes they do exist. A virus that came out a long time ago doesnt mean it didnt exist. Macarena Virus on mac is also from back in 2006 but again...it existed...OSX_INQTANA also a virus from back then but again...it existed. You can talk down to me all you want from your high horse lol it doesnt change facts and the fact is that Macs are prone to Viruses.
