IOS 13 Mail Contact Blocking not working Correctly

The IOS 13 contact mail Blocking is not working! After selecting the emails contact and "Block this Contact" and with the Mail Threading settings Blocked Sender Options set to "Move to Trash" I still see mail from the blocked contacts. The mail has a grayed hand showing, with the contact listed in the Blocked list. The blocked mail still shows up in my in box. Selecting the contact again, it displays This message is from a blocked contact. So why is the blocked email in my inbox and not in the the trash?

I was hoping for an answer to same problem. I found something online about it, that appears to have an effect on emails still going to inbox after correctly blocking an email contact, as per ios13+ instructions. What I had to do is clear out all email from each user that I have blocked from my iphone 7

had to do so manually, and it took a lot of time. If a previous email is left on the phone, the next email from the blocked contact still goes to the inbox, but if all previous emails are deleted prior to the next email received from blocked user are removed, subsequent emails do go to the bin.

Prior to add blocked contact, search through inbox for all email from the email address.
Delete all but the last email received.
open last email.
Click on sender name.
Click on sender name again (next to from)
click block sender.
if the sender is already blocked, be sure all emails from the person are fully deleted from phone, including, sent, inbox, bin folders, including last email.

This worked for me, but it’s not efficient way, and iOS should fix the dam issue.

In reply to Hoodwink - I know senders use multiple addresses e.g Bitcoin sellers but I am getting mail from blocked senders using the blocked address with a note from Apple it is from a blocked sender- I have at least a dozen of these and another one this morning

And yet it’s not actually blocking them. That’s not an accident and someone needs to put the pressure on Apple to make it work.

I believe that’s people like us. If we don’t put some pressure on them in numbers it will probably remain broken.

In reply to wesleygg - I have never ever had the message “mail thinks this is junk” Just the message that it is from a blocked sender who is using exactly the same email address as the one I blocked

Possible solution: In researching this matter, I find that email addresses that I intended to be blocked are not appearing in my blocked contact list. It appears that you can manually add the email address to the blocked contact list or:

When you receive an email that you wish to be blocked, Open the email and tap on the sender address, then block contact. This seems to add the email address to the blocked contact list more reliably as opposed to simply “moving to junk”. Moving your email to junk used to automatically add the email to your blocked contact list, but now you have to do it as described above.

I believe that you will be “unpleasantly” surprised in just a short while. If what you blocked was simply a former friend this may well work. If,however, you are attempting to block a product sales pitch you will still have the problem. Apple is blocking the address sent from only, not the product they are trying to sell you. That same product will come back to you from hundreds of different addresses. They need to give you a choice of “address” or “product”!

Can you help me fix a Mail problem on my Mac running latest OS (Catalina)?

Blocked emails are not blocked. They show as they were designated as a blocked email, but they still appear in my inbox. I still have to send them to trash manually.

This is still an annoying glitch. The email providers regularly put some email in junk without asking. Why not when I give the instruction?

Afte the Big Sur update there is no more blocking of stalker mails. They are marked as such, but appear in the inbox. Zero security with Big Sur. Bad News.
