Java Command-Line tool error with Catalina

Over the past few versions of Mac OS you could fix this error by installing the Java Legacy app, however with Catalina this does not work. Now you get a message that a newer version exists and this version can't be installed.

The result is the annoying POP up keeps reappearing.

Does any know how to get rid of this in Mac OS 10.15?

I had the same popup reappear after installing Catalina. The fix, for me was rather simple, and quite stupid. After downloading the Java pkg I clicked on the installer and got the same security alert that others did. I then went to the window and right clicked on the pkg and selected Open. This allowed the pkg to install normally.

Hello mariattoria240 & hitesh.11

sorry I cant help you with a simpler method as i‘m like you and have no idea what those commands meant.

however I just copied and pasted the lines into terminal (found in the utility’s folder) and hit return. The only thing I changed was “username” to my user name.

It was very simple to do and it worked for me.

hopefully if you give it a go it’ll fix it for you too.

good luck.
