I'm hesitant to do that because I don't want to lose any of my conversation history and photos etc.

I realise I can make a backup but previous attempts to do so have failed (simply taken too long)

But I fear I may have no other choice but to delete the app and re-install, as every other thing I've tried so far has not worked.

Facing the same issue with my iphone 7, not getting any notification from any app until i open that app. Checked all the settings and it seems to be correct. Started facing this issue after updating to 13.2.2. Also raised this concern with Apple feedback assistant but they are not even responding to the issue.

I am facing the same issue. If WhatsApp app is closed it does not receive notifications. Right now I am on iOS 13.3 on my iPhone 7 Plus. Very surprised to know it’s been over a month and issue has not been resolved yet?

Which version you are on? I am on 13.3 (I guess its the latest one as of today 12/26) and it still have the same issue?

I do receive notification when WhatApp is open or running in the background. But when it is closed, no notifications for calls or texts.

Did you have to do anything else like deleting and reinstalling the app?

Yes, same here, I tried it all re-install the app, re-installed my Iphone. (from Backup)

Reset/delete the network settings.

nothing solved the problem.

I see some apps I don't receive push msg and some dont seem to have a problem..

I have an iPhone 6s and I am having the same issue. It seems after iOS 13.3 upgrade whatsapp is being killed in the background after some time. Hence No notifications or calls are being pushed.

It seems this bug only happens to older phones. I have an iphone 11 without issues.

Apple please assist in solving this issue

I have the same problem since last upgrade iOS 13.3. I don’t get any push notifications from any app whatever is, WhatsApp instagram Facebook. Have you solved the problem? It’s around 2 months and there is no solution it’s embarrassing this behaviour and the less quality from Apple

Same problem here since 2 months ago. Still waiting for a fix from Apple. So disappointed by Apple lately, quality is definitely not what it used to be.

Why is it not fixed yet? Are you trying to force us to upgrade our phones? I'm considering it actually, looking at Android ones this time.

I have an iphone 6S and I have been having the same issue - push notifications & call would not make it through, unless I open the app. This applies to most of apps: Facebook Messenger, Viber...

I have tried updating the apps, force restarting the phone... but it does not seem to help.

I have hopes that the new software update will help it - will try it tonight, but it seem that it did not help some of you.

If you have found a solution, please share!

I have the same problem I only receive whatsapp notifications when I open the app, I donn’t receive any WhatsApp notification when the phone is locked,

push notifications is not working with WhatsApp, I have iPhone X, IOS 13.3.1

I have same issue, Connection to whatsapp web drops when app is not open on Phone, messages and call will only receive when App is open on Phone. I tried by resetting my phone still no luck. iOS 13.4.1 is the software version on my iphone 7

All apps are updated latest versions: Whatsapp, Snapchat.

Incoming SMS-message give always notifications also when phone is "sleep mode", Whatsapp and Snapchat dont give any notifications.. This is frustrating.

Is this IOS or externals App problem?

Apple give us some hints please.

DND is off, settings full reset, phone hard boot, notifications settings default, nothing help.

Saddenly, I have to move sim-card my Andoid phone when my iPhone messages apps are useless until i get some fix on this notifications problem.

mine Started doing this a couple of weeks back. No notifications until I open the app then it gets busy.

whatsapp tech support suggest an iOS update. So I did and now on 13.4.1 - still not working. Latest version of WhatsApp installed - still not working.

all obvious settings checked - I hadn’t played with them anyway !

Is this an Apple issue or WhatsApp ?

Deleting the app may not resolve this reading this thread and losing any media I have too.

Poor performance from Apple considering the date of when this thread was started.

From what I a tell it’s not restricted to iOS software level, handset type, handset age.

Do Apple even read their own boards to see what others are having problems with ? Even an acknowledgement would be nice
