AirPods Pro have a strange smell on its silicone tips, is that safe?

Well glad I held off on these. Since of stinky smell being reported. I will wait a year, my 1st gen. are still doing ok

Same problem here, but it smells kind of sweet. Not a bad smell necessarily.

I’m gunno hold off on purchasing.. I still hope they get released in different colors before long

Same here! I googled it, and I found this thread. Man, do they stink! How hard can it be to make it smell better, from the factory, at least neutral.... Annoyed, in Maui

The official apple retailer in Turkey does not accept 14 days guarantee return for this issue. Please help me!

well, I got them when they were first published too and the smell is still there. But, it has a fruity scent, like something sweet! I like it so I do not mind tbh

Clean your ears

It's the case, not the tips. The tips just absorb the odor more than the hard plastic headphones themselves. Take everything out of the case, leave it closed, you'll smell this odd chemical smell when you reopen the case.

Same smell here. Googled it and came here. I also have an earlier generation of their airpods and they have a strong smell (slightly different) as well that I never noticed before. Silicone definitely absorbs the smell and makes it very noticeable. I've smelled this same smell before from a plastic container of Cascade dish washing detergent. The smell doesnt go away from that container and I doubt it will with the AirPods.

I also notice this, and I dont think it's the tips. To me it smells like acetone. Suspect it is something from the manufacturing process. Perhaps Apple could make a comment on this, and as to the safety of this?
